I don't know what to do....

Hi guys, a few months ago some guys wanted to buy my website (really good one). At first there was a Canadian guy, who offered 10K dollars for it. The other, the english man offered me 10 K euros. I refused all of them because the site was doing very well. After penguin it lost its ranking. Now it is located between 9-36 pages. Everyday changing positions. Sometimes it appears on the 9 page , sometimes on the 30+. Each time I remember that I was able to sell it at a good price, I just ....

I know, it would be difficult to sell the site that is already penalized. I am waiting for the Google new tool that will help me to remove some spam backlinks. I have never done SEO by myself. I was looking for SEO companies and they did the job for me.

Do you have any idea, what I have to do now? Now the site has no income, only from adsense because it is affiliated site. I wanted to promote it via adword but Im still thinking what to do with it.

Ideas, suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Either sell it for nickels and dimes or work on the site so it's not GOOGLE DEPENDENT! You're shooting yourself and wondering why you're bleeding.

Remember that in the future. Google is not your friend and you don't need them.

Sorry to hear this! Add content, send traffic, do whatever it takes to give it some "mojo" back! The "Google Dependency" is a disease and whenever I hear the word "backlink" it irks me!

Just try and get the site back on track with good ideas + traffic + innovation! Also, what are your stats? How much money has it made? It may have lost some of its "ranking" but if you can still show the stats, average traffic, revenue, why not list it on Flippa or somewhere else!

See how much you can get for it and decide if you want to bother with it or just get rid of it!

      Best of luck!

So Very True! Google is a foe!

start doing some proper SEO on your site again... respect the rules set by the penguin update: anchor link diversity, backlink source diversity, don't spam, etc.

Thanks for your replies and suggestions. I have hired the "most wanted" VA team from WF but they were not able to recover the site. This month I did some SEO myself but I think I will have to wait until Google release its new Tool and we will be able to remove some bad backlinks.

Regarding the site, here it is Antivirus Reviews | Top 10 Antivirus | Antivirus Protection I boguht this 6 years old nice domain for it. Actually right now I have only 50 +- daily unique visitors. They come from Bing , Yahoo and social media. With 700 real fans, with more than 2K twitter followers but there is no income at all except adsense And it was one of the best websites I have ever had taking into account that daily the MIN amount was 200$. It was ranked on top 3-5 positions for the most popular "antivirus" niche keywords. But now........
I prefer to wait to the new backlink removal tool. I think I will be able to recover my positions if then I will make appropriate changes

What do you think about the backlink removal tool?

That's interesting. I hadn't heard about that. My best site was hit by Penguin - it's the only one that was.

I have been able to replace the traffic, and it's had its second best month ever. I've used a combination of paid traffic, links from other sites and setting up other sites in the same niche.

Like you I had some SEO work done on the site by a third party. The ability to remove some of the unwanted links and regain the site's position for some of its keywords would be fantastic.

It yo-yos around in the serps for it's keywords on a crazy basis and still is. I monitor 12 keywords for it. Some can rise or fall by 30 - 50 places in a day!

Do you have a content quality warning or anything similar in google webmaster tools? If so, you will need to work on the site to make it adhere to googles guidelines and then write to them with proof of the work and changes you have put in to improve the site and apply for the penalty to be lifted - this can be removing all spam links built with automated software etc. so they can see you are making an active effort to provide quality content for your visitors.

I read bing will be releasing a backlink removal tool sometime in the near(ish) future but I would say the only other way for now would be to contact the provider of your links and request they be removed - of course if you have a large number of links from a single provider this will be much simpler and less time-consuming..

That sucks dude. There is good news though - although you lost your rankings, you do have know that you have a site that converts and does well with certain types of traffic so you know it's worth working on.

First of all - get off of the Google nipple You can and should experiment with some paid traffic but make sure you're using it to build a brand, not just hoping for an affiliate sale on the front end. Get as much social stuff happening as you can - take any money you would've paid SEO agencies and use it towards great content/building a following.

Depending on the niche this could either be quite easy or quite hard but relying on Google or any one entity for traffic these days isn't a good idea.

I'm amazed that some people will still pay 8-10 x monthly profit on a site that gets all it's traffic from Google these days! Get your site built up with stable traffic and a good list (one of your only true assets) and you'll do much better whether you decide to keep it or sell.

Thanks guys I really appreciate it. rosetrees, have you asked your SEO makers to remove some unwanted backlinks? This site has 60K of backlinks and as I saw, they are not valid at all.

Regarding content quality warning, actually I have no warning messages there. I sent a letter to Gwebmaster and asked them to remove all of backlinks and I got the message that those links were not spam so there was no need to remove them.

What kind of paid traffic do you recommend?

    Thanks

Sorry to hear that man. Google messed up a lot of sites with their Panda and penguin update. I have been able to recover all my ranking for a lot of sites I lost through redirection with a special script. You won't be able to recover your old domain though but this method has worked all the time and I got my rankings back to first page.

Have a look at my signature, I'd be willing to help if that is what you are interested in.
