Find Out What Other Sites A Guru Owns

Yesterday I was watching Kieth Baxter's "The Wordpress Project"
and it's very good. But in there he mentioned that anyone could
easily find out all your other domain names if you're not careful
about setting up your domain nameservers the right way.

This inspired me to check out how to do what Kieth was saying
about finding other domain names that other affiliates own.

Surely if I knew every domain name a top affiliate owned I could
find some lucrative markets. So here's what I found...

If you use Whois lookup and Domain name search you can do what's called
a whois query. Which basically means you put in a domain name
and it'll tell you who it is that owns that site.

Obviously, some people private reg their domain names so just
getting their name and contact info isn't always possible.

However, if you scroll down about half way through the results
that they give you you'll see a little link that says "reverse IP"

When you click that link it'll list 3-4 other domains that that domain
owner also owns - PLUS they list all the others for you for anywhere
from $20 - $50 depending on how many other domains there are.

Last night for like $60 I bought the listings for 3 super affiliates
that I know of and now can see all the other domains that they
own. I on covered some seriously cool, very low competition,
very lucrative niches.

If I make just 2-3 sales in just one of those niches I found doing
this then I'll easily make my money back.

I'm sure this post will probably piss off some big wigs but for
anyone looking for a seriously cool way of doing niche research
then I bet you'll love this idea.

There are ways to hide yourself from these types of searches...

Whatcha guys think of this little trick? Does anyone know a free
way, I don't mind spending $20 a pop but free is even cooler!

Yeah, I thought it was pretty cool when I found
it. It was like 3am and I tried waking up my wife
to tell her about it... She didn't care so much at
    3am! haha

Hmmm....Isn't that against some privacy rules somewhere?

A free way I know: you can find out the sites that are on the same IP address. You can use the live.com search engine, you just enter ip:123.123.123.123 (the ip) in the search box. You can find out the ip of one site by pinging it.

No, as there are a number of ways to get this info.

Most wouldn't know what to do with it anyway, and it's just a small view into what is really going on behind the scenes.

Not to mention how old or established these sites would be anyway.

Many "Guru's" will admit the niche they got started in, and I don't think too many "Super Affiliates" (1 mil + per year), would still be using shared hosting for their hottest sites.

I've been using this tool for ages. It was my 'secret' but you revealed it man!

I can't believe how those gurus don't hide their identity on their domains. They use the same email address on them all. It's a quite big risk.

It's not as easy as it sounds, for example, I have several sites on different IPs and with different nameservers (some VPS and Dedicated Servers allow you to do this).

Just to prove my point, http://www.thenewbieblueprint.com and http://www.danielmolano.com, different IPs and different nameservers, plus private domain registration.

Althought it is a great post Justin, most people don't do what I do, so yes it can be used to your advantage.

using resources available do not break rules, it shows creative thinking in my opinion. This sounds like a great thing to get you headed in a direction and I suggest thaht is all it is.

Another thing I might try to find some of those domains and then do a marketleap on them, finding links from one to another as I think alot of them tend to link their sites together to drive traffic and get better ranking ( just my thought ).

You can see the links, count them, click them, ect....and profile certain niche markets I would guess.

Thanks for the tip, I am new here and trying to change my life, little by little and am taking note of all I learn.
