    Hi Wishpond,

I hope i got the gist of your question right. Here are a few sources I use (not applications or tools but I am sure there are some which assist with each source):

    Free:
    1. Giveaway events - just google for the latest ones.
    2. Pinterest
    3. Articles/reports uploaded to doc sharing sites with links to squeeze page.
    4. Adswaps.
    5. Your own affiliates.
    6. Guest blog posts.

    Paid:
    1. Lead impact or your choice of PPV network.
    2. Solo ads
    3. Facebook ads
    4. Banner ads

    All the best

    Luke

getting more traffic will end up in more opt-ins... also if you want to increase conversions of your traffic, offer free stuff and bonuses for joining.

I don't necessarily believe that offering free stuff such as report etc is the best solution to get more people on your list! Getting fresh quality content and having something interesting to say is probably going to get people to bookmark your site and come visit your site often!

I have been given tons of free stuff before and by the end of each week I had to unsubscribe from most of them! In most cases, these free reports, ebooks are re-hashed content! Proper third class reports, I call them. Secondly, you end up getting masses of useless promotional emails daily with nothing in there but spammy content!

I think it's much better to drive traffic using 2 or 3 good methods- be it articles, blog commenting, forums etc, but no force your subscribers to opt-in for the sake of getting them on your list! Instead, try and build a relationship with them, even if you only have a few at the beginning! It goes a long way compared to the usual tricks and frankly, we all know WHY we get these so-called FREE AMAZING REPORTS! ha!

These are my 2 cents but as soon as I see "Free whatever", I leave the page... there is no such thing as a free lunch you know??

So, add valuable content daily if you can and you'll see a steady stream of people opting in!

      Wishing you luck!

it really depends on what you have more of

    time or money

if you have more money then solo ads and ppc are your best options to get some fast traffic but its not just a case of sending lots of traffic to your page

you need to make sure your squeeze page converts fairly well (35% +) and you need to have a half decent sales funnel in place too

if you have more time then it will take more time to see results and build your list

    my free traffic comes from:

    my personal blog
    forums
    articles
    videos
    viral/word of mouth

    solo ads - paid

Like others have mentioned above, there are so many ways to do this. One that works well for me:

    1) PPC

Here are a couple that I've heard work well for others:

    1) Solo's / swaps
    2) SEO / long-tail
    3) Guest posting
    4) Social media (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Stumbleupon, Digg, reddit... the list goes on)

Honestly, the list doesn't really end there either. Just get creative. Create specific, relevant, creative, targeted content and your list will grow one way or another.

Please avoid wasting your time with free traffic because it is rather difficult, and stick to solo ads to build the list, you need a squeeze page

Now I'm a huge advocate of buying traffic, but to advise someone to stay clear of "free traffic" because it's "difficult" is just plain nonsense. The Warriors who make their living (and then some) from free traffic would disagree with you.

You can easily get burned investing in "solos ads" if you don't know what you're doing or don't know how to measure your metrics. Doing solo ads can be "difficult" too. Just saying.......

I've been using a single opt-in - no autoresponder - squeeze page with an instant free download. I know some people don't believe in freebies to build list as the danger is you'll end up with a list of freebie seekers. However I have just been concentrating on building the list at the moment.

Paid traffic method will build list faster compared to free traffic method, but then we have to work our budget for it.

If you really want to build your list then you've got to do the following:

    1. Provide great details that people can use. Supplying this good information will make you an expert in people's eyes.

    2. Give people that visit your website an incentive to sign up for your list

    3. Let them know that they can always opt out of your list easily by using an unsubscribe link.

    4. Do not bombard your prospects on the list with multiple e-mails daily or every few days.

Those should help you build your list who will buy from you.
