Do You Want To Make Money Online or Just Teach About Making Money Online?

It is amazing to me that so many newbies to internet marketing start off by positioning themselves as someone who can show others how to make money online when they haven't yet done it themselves.

Now, essentially there is nothing wrong with passing on information from others who have done it and being transparent about it but that is not what I see happening. Too many people out there are cannibalising other people's material and then claiming it as their own, when they themselves haven't got a clue how to actually make money online.

Dare I say it? Yes I do....Many of them will never make any money online either..Why?...Because they are positioning themselves in the most competitive niche out there and against some really big players who actually do know their stuff, have walked the talk and have a track record to fall back on.

It's crazy when you look at it this way isn't it?

Let's draw an example from two of the biggest names in internet marketing out there Frank Kern and Eben Pagan..

Frank Kern actually started out selling information products based around 'dog training' and Eben Pagan made his fortune initially from the 'dating niche' and still makes a fortune in this niche today albeit operating under a pseudonym.

So what can we take from this?...Well it tells us that we don't have to be positioned in the make money online niche in order to elevate ourselves to the position of making money online.

Wouldn't it make sense to make some money in a slightly less competitive area where your credibility doesn't rest on the amount of money you can personally show you have banked over a period of time or the number of students you have taken from sleeping under a railway bridge to being an internet millionaire in six months as a result of your training?

You audience is not stupid, they will very soon figure out if you are the real deal or not and if your are telling white lies and you get found out....Ouch! That will take some coming back from.

Making money online these days is all about relationships and trust. Now, trust comes from honest and open dealings with people and distrust comes from the opposite.

So what am I saying? Well, I would like to suggest that if you are just starting out, you take a look at positioning yourself in a niche outside of the make money online niche. Make some money and then come back and revisit it later.

Take on the big boys in the make money online niche when you have some money and a track record of success behind you and you will have a much better chance of cracking the code to internet riches.

I would love to hear your comments about this too.

So coming back to the title of this thread, the decision is yours.....

Are you going to make money online or talk about making money online?

    Hi,

    You are absolutely right!

There are so many self-claimed gurus. They want to earn big money by teaching people with some methods but they haven't started to earn anything.

If you want to teach people how to make money, it is better to ensure that you're making money with the methods you are using and show the hard proof.

Well the question is "what kind of money?"

With all that PLR products available you can just resell them and you will make some good cash. Some people are doing just that and they are not gurus but they do make living online.

Yes, IM is very competitive area but there is a flip side...

the amount of money hungry, lazy newbies is HUGE! They have no experience, they want easy cash and they are unable to spot scam so they are perfect prey for some little sharks (self claimed Gurus for example)...

Personally I think that as long as product delivers high quality and isn't outdated it's fine... no matter who author is etc. Of course if he sells crap that's not ok.

it does happen but most of them won`t ever be successful because they haven`t gone through all the crap to get there

i always recommend people to start off gaining experience with things like adsense, amazon, cpa, etc

doing this gets you a lot of experience and lays your foundation and then you can progress from there

i have always classed this as "your online apprentiship"

it`s important IMO that you do all the hard, gruelling work at the beginning yourself so that you know what it`s like and you can talk from experience rather than theory like some people do

as long as your bs detector is turned up though you easily spot the clueless ones

I personally agree that people should not start out in the IM niche. I'm of the school of thought that I don't want to learn from someone who can't do what they teach. This goes for schooling a a whole. When I was in college, I was a Spanish major. Many of my friends were not fluent but got jobs as Spanish teachers within a semester of graduation! I was like WTF! You aren't even fluent in Spanish!! It annoyed me (and still annoys me) to this day!

I got impression that many people here start in IM niche, or they start in something other but their main goal is IM niche.

I remember, back in 90s, there was ebooks you have to buy online, and from them you can learn how to market and sell those exact ebooks to other people... And that's all it was about.

A lot of newbies do, but they probably shouldn't if they're serious about being successful. Trying to teach something that you personally have ZERO skills in and that has a huge amount of competition, including some of the biggest names in IM is futile.

Who knows... maybe that's what they're being taught to do. Buy an ebook that teaches you how to sell the ebook to other people that will also learn to sell the ebook to others and on and on and on.

I would say that it doesn't matter whether they're serious about being successful or not. What matters is whether they're ALREADY successful or not. It's kinda lame to try to teach something you haven't mastered yet yourself.

  • So true.

And yet, this phenomenon (people wanting to be automatic IM and MMO gurus) is inevitable to a certain extent, just because of "monkey see monkey do."

I mean, you look up "make money online," you find a product by some guy who makes money online, and unless you have an obvious area of expertise already, you're going to want to take that advice and replicate the original product.

The same is true for people who talk too much and don't listen enough. If you're new, being quiet is mostly the best choice when talking to someone who is far superior.

People who talk too much and don't take action do this because of EGO. They don't want to accept the fact that they need to work hard to make money, nor do they want to listen to someone else.

Before you can become a good teach, you have to become an outstanding student. If you cannot do it because of EGO, leave it at the door.

I have tried to make money with almost everything online..

I started with CPA, CPV and CPM. Then I made some homepages with the target to earn money in the IM niche. I failed and made no near the money I spent on hosting and traffic generation.

One of my sites where "www.learninternetmarketingsmoothly .com". It was a blog with articles and affiliate offers from clickbank. After some years I did not renew it on Godaddy. Now they are selling it as a premium domain.. lol

First when I switched to the health niche I started making more money. Far away enough to live of it alone. The health niche is competitive too, but far easier to benefit from in my opinion. I think the reason is that it's physical products (markethealth).

Like you say IM is a very competitive niche where the money flows big time daily and everyone wants a piece of the cake. I don't think you need to be a guru to earn money in there. Neither do you need to fake a "guru status" to get respected.

Just being yourself may be the best thing. You can easily promote other peoples products without being an expert. I don't have a list yet, but I know lots of newbies have and they are making money just offering WSO's. Of course they need to offer consistent value to their list, to keep suscribers.

What I'm saying is that you can succeed in the IM niche as a newbie; Frank and Eben have also been newbies once...

Don't bother with people faking their identity. Make your own success and help people who worship your competences. Those people who are not tranparent about who they are, let them play with themselves, just as long they don't steal material from other.

Interesting post, had never thought of this "issue".

Have you noticed that this type of so called Gurus are extremely active in Warrior forum? the number of them are higher is Warrior forum I think
I have used some of the WSOs and after reading those courses I was totally amazed to know the awful ways that they have discussed.

Pretty much agree with everything you said. If I said everything I wanted to say I think I would be banned from this forum and probably sued lol.

Just use common sense is all I say. That't all.

Do your research, think about what you pay for and remember that at the end of the day this is a marketing forum, people like to hoke things up and obviously enjoy selling things.

I agree with you so much...must be our ages?

The thing is with these youngsters, is they have nothing to lose and will often bull**** to baffle brains! They will get away with it and then move on...

The question we should ask ourselves all the time ...

...why should listen to you...? Evidence your success?

No offense, but you should get your facts straight...this is 100% incorrect.
