Expired domain

Hey Warriors,

So I got my eye on a Expired domain from Godaddy.
It says in the listing: " buy now for $9.00" but when I add it to my cart the price increases to a total of $23,99. Why is it so expensive?
Should I just wait for it to become available to every host again? Because now I can only register it with Godaddy.
It also states: Price Expires: 8/1/2012. After that the price goes up or down??
Thanks!

  • The 9.00 is to buy the domain. The extra cost is to add another year to registration.

Use coupon code cjc795dom to take a few bucks off.

If you wait for it to expire, it will take approximately 80 days to become available to register, and you risk someone else buying it before you.

    • Wow, the coupon "cjc795dom" is still working for me when I renew my domain today! $6.50 off indeed
    • Thanks for the "cjc795dom" coupon! It still worked and it saved me few bucks on the domain renewal.

  • It's also possible you need to unmark some options.. There is a long way from start of purchase to receipt on Godaddy...
  • Yes! USD 9 for buy domain and other (12,99+ fee) for renewal.
  • yes, you pay 9 dollars to buy it and then to register it
it is not so after all
in a year from now all you pay for is the registration
    the 9-10 dollars
if you really want it and it is important to you, take it
  • Alright... so I waited a couple of days and the price dropped each day with $1.00 but stopped when it reached $5.00.
So today I checked it again and the listing was removed, than I looked it up at Domain Name Lookup, Domain Whois | DomainTools to see if somebody had registered it. This is what came up:
No match for "domain ...." in the registrar database. It also says that it is for sale and I can make an offer on Sedo - The world's leading domain marketplace.
So I tried making an offer of 4 dollars but it gave me an error that the offer was invalid because it was too low... LOL!!! wtf
I don't think somebody grabbed it because it was in the marketplace for over 30 days.
Ehh... So does GOdaddy list their expired domains on Sedo - The world's leading domain marketplace ??? I find that kinda weird, I want that domain for just the regular price because the person that owned the domain didn't renew it.

The reason I waited is because i'm not going to pay $20+ for a domain that is worth the regular price..

    Edit:

On their own "whois" it says GOdaddy still got it.....
