Video Marketing and PPV

Hello everyone,

it seems video marketing is becoming huge these days, I'm thinking about it all the time, but I've a concern that may be weird ! but it's for real.

I'm in a good command of English, I can talk it very well, but it is still not my mother language, from my accent you can easily tell I'm not a native English speaker.

Do you think this will be a problem? I'm talking here from the side of subconscious, when a U.S. or U.K. based customer (the majority of online customers) hear someone on a video and he got the feeling that he isn't from the same background, will this affect his decision to take action ( buy/sign up for an offer..etc)?

This point is actually huge for me that it prevents me from starting to use videos, despite knowing well that I can produce high quality videos and the results will be huge.

Hiring someone to record the audition for you isn't practical here, you'll to pay around $200 every time you produce a video, and this is not something to do if you want to profit,
Any ideas or suggestions?
Help is really appreciated.

Ahmed

I think you bring up a valid concern.

I am no marketing expert, I'm just responding as a "customer". Honestly, I think some people will be turned off, BUT for me personally, if you are personable and likable I then I would have no problem all.

Make sure you practice though. I've seen some really bad videos, the video part being fine, but the speaking part. I'm not talking about accents either. I am talking about people that are monotone and boring or talk really fast. Look up Chris Farrell on here, his videos are really good.

    Good luck to you!

I guess I'd have to hear your voice to really say, but....

There's always a few other ways to do videos - just having text and music would work even. Unless of course you're creating tutorial videos or videos where a voice is required.

Don't worry about it too much man - make a few videos and test, if it doesn't work out the way you expected, try something else and test again.

    Good luck,
    ~D.C.

I think you bring up a valid point....it's not right, but people who seem foreign to customers may have a higher barrier of trust to overcome.

My point of view is that if it is that noticeable...treat it as a "damaging admission" and draw attention to it.

For example (just using India as an example):

"Crazy Indian Copywriter Reveals Six-Figure Sales Letters!"

Then it's no longer a hindrance but is actually part of your appeal and identity.

    Hi Ahmed,

It may sound strange but I for example find some Indian voices very soothing, infact I forget exactly what it was but somebody was selling some kind of WordPress Plugin using a video and while his English wasn't perfect, his voice sounded very calming and professional , I ended up purchasing his plugin.

That said, it might not be so across the board, you mentioned paying $200 per voiceover. you really don't need to pay that kind of money, are you talking about the person doing the voice over being in the video itself visually? If so potter off to elance.com, odesk.com etc, find somebody with a half decent webcam, if you're offering them a few jobs, you'll probably find somebody who will throw on a clean shirt and do that work for $25, I kid you not, infact in the current economy probably less.

If you're just after a voice over which will sit atop a visual presentation within a video, you can use a text to speech service like :

NeoSpeech Text-to-Speech Software Programs | TTS Demo

I have a Thai friend of mine who uses "Phils" voice on dozens of videos for his incentivised site. You would be surprised how well the voice turns out. It's not perfect for all applications but it works and is free once you have the software.

How much does this software cost?

And does it have limitations for the length of the text?

What if the text is bilingual, English and Spanish for example, can it be adjusted to do this?

      Thanks for help everyone

Try text-to-speech software. There are very artistic, hollywood style voices out there. I use them *frequently*

How long of a video are you doing? If it is just a short one for the web you might concider using a voice over tallant. You can find many by doing a a Google search for "voice overs" so dont give up there is always a solution to almost any problem by using the power of the Web!

    Good Luck On Your Project
