IM outlook for 2012/2013

Hi all, I had only one site relying mainly BMR, and after the Google last update and it got hit very bad bad in the SERP's losing about 85% of traffic, I am bit newbie and now I learned the hard way, that putting all you eggs in basket is the worst thing to do.

So I think everyone realize now that the IM now has changed, so I was wondering what to look for in the coming period ? what strategies, should we consider and I do mean the very fundamental ones?, not specific. Should we concentrate on promoting products, services... ?

Also what are the techniques in marketing and in targeting traffic will be the best for the coming period, for example: SEO, PPC, Social networks.... ?

Any outlook for the IM you have, I would appreciate if you share it, also if you know any useful related articles, it will be also great

    1. Sell what people are buying.

    2. Provide more value than people expect.

    3. Go the extra mile.

Methods and techniques may change, but principles do not.

    All the best,

SEO, PPC, and Social networks are nearly insignificant relative to other online/offline marketing methods. There is a huge difference in doing internet marketing and having an internet business, which involves an understanding of how consumers buy products and complete transactions.

Some estimates indicate global online sales will grow to nearly $1 trillion by 2013, of which $235 billion is in the US, $283 billion in Europe, $323 billion in Asia, and $121 billion in the rest of the world. The pace of online shopping is accelerating as consumer habits change; driven largely by emerging technology such as the continued rollout of broadband, mobile devices, mobile apps, etc.

Business 101 since the beginning of time. Just because we do our business online doesn't make it any different.

      Pretty cool concept huh?

Providing more value than people expect happens at the point of purchase. Going the extra mile can happen at any time.

For example, if I sell an e-book about how to write, extra value could include unannounced bonuses.

But let's say a reader contacted me with a question about writing. A quick answer wouldn't be unheard of, but engaging in a conversation, looking at one of their writing samples, making edits to that sample, and then explaining why I made those edits would be going the extra mile.

        All the best,

Penguin doesn't spell the death of internet marketing. You still have Yahoo and Bing you can capitalize on, and there are so many other ways to get recurring traffic back to your website without Google. One being youtube marketing.

I totally agree with you here Randall, SEO is not Google.... If the time comes that SEO in Google does not bring much related content and success to Internet marketing, then we can move to other alternatives. Google can lose traffic as well and we can just find another search engine to optimize.

IM would not change, the fundamentals would not change, people still buy products and services. What would change is just the traffic generation techniques. That's my 2 cents.

Diversify your links. That way, if another update Google update comes and devalues some type of backlink, then you will still have other links that will sustain your rankings. If you rely on one type of link, you'll surely lose your place in Google SERPs.

Many are diversifying into facebook, youtube videos, kindle books, pinterest, linkedIn, and now android apps.

SEO is about search engine traffic. But traffic can come from other sources too, which are building they're own search-engine-like features, eg facebook LinkedIN. Facebook started as a college prank, until it grew up. And it will be interesting if Pinterest does this too.

Don't try to game the system (i.e., BMR/blackhat tactics) and you won't have to be afraid of the system (i.e., Google).

If you want long-term results, stop chasing the latest/greatest shortcut to IM riches and start building an authority site.

      IM is definitely changing.

Or put in a better way - MATURING.

I was thinking today about what really separates a successful business. What separates guys like Chris Farrell, Gary Vaynerchuk, Frank Kern, and Travis Sago.
The answer is ENGAGEMENT! Well - at least part of the answer

Two of the biggest opportunities for entrepreneurs in 2012 are ENGAGEMENT & Personality Marketing.

You want to engage with your subscribers on a deeper level as much as possible. Create a dialogue and give people the opportunity to interact with you on a one-on-one basis.

Send people to your Facebook page for speed coaching sessions. Interact with your subscribers via Q&A on a live webinar. Create live videos sitting out on your back porch. This level of engagement is what creates raving fans!

The inbox is getting ridiculously crowded now 'a days and you MUST give people a reason to open your email. The fastest way to do that is to deliver massive value, sprinkle in some entertainment, and engage on a level that other marketers aren't willing to do.)

I couldn't have said this better - IM is growing fast. Over the past 8 years it has changed from a back bedroom hobby to an industry that people can make a lot of money from!

As such it means that if you want to make a full time living from the industry you need to shift your mindset and actually treat what you do as a business with all the professionalism that you would treat a bricks and morta business.

Each year the barrier to entry gets just that little bit higher because so many people keep upping their game. Over the next few years I can see this becoming one of the biggest shifts.

I am pleased that people actually know what I am talking about when I tell them that I am an internet marketer.

My traffic went up with the latest update -- as it does with nearly all of them. 85% is a big loss. What in the world were you doing? The key to surviving and thriving after the updates is to keep in mind that the end goal of a search engines is to provide unique, quality content that provides value to the end user based on what they are searching for.

I was using BMR as my main source of links, and did merely nothing beside it, I was newbie then and I am still :p, but what pisses me off that I wrote by myself ton's of articles and they weren't that bad but not top quality for sure, but I did in them a lot of work

    Provide value

    Honestly try to help people

    No blackhat techniques

    1. Have a product
    2. Get an autoresponder
    3. Build a squeeze page
    4. Get traffic to that squeeze page
    5. Give a free product away
    6. Upsell a product when they go to your thank you page
    7. Onlly try one upsell.
    8. Communicate with your list and keep giving great value.
    9. Rinse and Repeat and then clean your list.

Before everyone says I missed this and that, this is a basic guideline and should work in all economic times. Some times you won't make as much, other times you will be blessed.

Search the forums, A squeeze page is a landing page, somewhere where you send traffic to tell about your product. Plenty of good squeeze pages out there.

You need to research the forums though, just be basic, if you search kim roach she is a very good instructor here. I am a good teacher but not with noobs. I am apologetic for that. This has all came easy to me, so my patience is low.

I will answer any pm's you send to me though and be more than happy to help you. No I won't charge you or even try to sell you anything, I have been blessed and make plenty with my outside work on the net and my salary as a nurse.

Take care and pm me and I will send you links later for free ebooks on what to do.

My only suggestion is to pick one thing stick with it till you make money before you move on. Took me years to figure that out.

One method to succeed now is to focus tightly on one strategy and keep providing what your audience wants.

You need to really know your target customer and use surveys then follow up appropriately. During 2012, more successful marketers are regularly asking for feedback and tailoring their products accordingly.

When you diversify your traffic sources while providing high quality content, google updates will factor less in your profitablilty.
