Hi everyone,
I just opened up a little online shop, specializing in 3D printing and design.

Basically i make products with a special technology called 3D printing.

At the moment I make mobile cases and Jewelry.

You can see my shop here:
polychemy(dot)com

This is my first time selling anything, and I am doing most of my 'marketing' on Facebook. I just opened my shop yesterday.

I would like some advice and feedback on my web site's design and presentation.
What is your first impression when you enter the store?

Here are some of my questions:

-Are the product descriptions good enough?
-I use 3D renders to showcase the products, should i use real photographs instead? Or can you tell the difference?
-Are the prices to high?

Would really appreciate your candid feedback.

Thanks everyone.

  • Bump.

    HI Guys could really use the feedback.

    Thanks.
  • Hey, xxdaggerxx.

    I went through your site and Liked you on Facebook. Looking good so far!

    To answer your questions:
    -Are the product descriptions good enough?
    Yes. I found them to be creative and informative.

    -I use 3D renders to showcase the products, should i use real photographs instead? Or can you tell the difference?
    To me this works well and communicates your product and vision. I don't think photos would make a big difference at all.

    -Are the prices to high?
    I do find the prices a bit high for something cosmetic although I can appreciate the work that went into each of them. I found an amazing Iphone case for $5 at a dollar store and it looks cool too! You might consider a lower price point to begin and let people know they will go up in the future. A few testimonials regarding attention to detail and durability would go a long way. You might focus on marketing your bulk custom design services to companies with big money on LinkedIn.com. Perhaps selling to those who would make a large order with their branding so they could give your cases to their employees as gifts. And consider adopting trends in the entertainment industry marketing to teens and folks who would pay a bit more for very exclusive popular designs as status symbols. Let me know how else I can help!

    Take care,
    Ryan

    • I liked the site. I would suggest you focus on getting people to the site now and add a "Feedback" button so your actual audience can make suggestions, that's always the best. But great job so far.
  • How often do you go to a site and purchase something on your first visit?

    You need some sort of lead capture box on your site so you can capture the names and emails of potential customers. This way you can keep in touch with them by sending emails.

    Then, when they need what you're selling, since they see your emails, they will most likely think of you first and visit your store.

    Make sense?
  • I like your site alot, i LOVE the iphone cases. do you ship to the UK?
  • wow I love it, the cases actually look amazing! try selling them on ebay aswell?
  • I liked your site.
    try much more clear and concise.

  • $40 per case? It's going to be hard to compete against the $5 chinese version.
  • Thanks everyone for the kind feedback, it is very encouraging for me

    Good to know im on the right track. I've been working alone on this project for a long time now, and never really gotten any feedback on this. Thanks everyone for your points.
    @ryan.arnfinson
    Yes i am thinking of targeting designer blogs and apple assesory sites.

    @imsolutionsgroup
    Thanks for the idea, i think ill do that!

    @wlasikiewicz
    Yes i ship to the UK, we ship worldwide! If you like my work you can like my facebook page too

    @Thomas W
    True, but these cases are customizable. You can have your name on it. Not many have that feature. Also i believe the design justifies the price?

    Thanks everyone for your feedback.
  • you need to check on the pricing as well. i try a few of the product ie adding it to the card and it appears that the product is price at only $0.01. so, you need to check on that.

    overall, the site is good. only thing is that i think the header is just too big, so, most of the call to action is below the fold.

    i might be wrong, so you need to do a test here to see if that is true.

    • Hi thanks for spotting that! Ya i fixed the bug. The price on the finger print case works fine now.

      What do you mean by "so, most of the call to action is below the fold."?
