Are some niches predisposed to making more money off a list?

I started to think about this as I am looking for new niches. I know with the whole "making money online" niche we are used to be on a list and receiving emails to buy. Does anyone think that this method is less effective for some niches? People are not readily checking email or used to getting both content and offers through email? If so, how do we get them used to email marketing?

I feel that with an internet marketing niche list you're always going to make more as people in that feild just seem to buy products over and over again.

That depends on the lifetime customer value of the customer and the backend potential. If you are on a niche selling a one time product, in some cases there is no need to build a list (only if the profit deserves it). However, if you are niches in which you can sell multiple products at different price points, you may want to build a big list and create a relationship with your subscribers.

    My 2 cents.

This.by having and building a list you are able to sell to them repeatedly over and over again

I think you can motivate folks from any niche to look forward to getting your emails and actually tune them into checking there emails...IF...what they receive in your emails is of HUGE value and interest to them...

The way to build a real business is value...create content that they can't wait to receive. Don't send sales pitches all the time. Send value. That will tune them in even if they aren't regular email folks...

That is true, for instance the "get your ex back" niche is very short lived because they are in very great pain, which will ease off after a while.

That's why you send them to another squeeze page from one of your other niches and try to get them on that list too. ex: weight loss, fitness, skin care, etc.

Then you just keep doing it.

I agree with dpwilliams that the key is to send high-quality content -- to give your subscribers value.

However, let me make one quick comment on this:

People are not readily checking email or used to getting both content and offers through email? If so, how do we get them used to email marketing?

The key to EASY marketing is to use the communication channels that your prospects are already using. If your market isn't using email, then don't spend too much time trying to figure out how to get them to use email more. Instead, figure out a BETTER way to get your marketing message in front of your prospects.

Better yet, use multi-channel marketing, meaning you reach into your market in as many ways as possible (from your email list, on social media, maybe via text message, perhaps through postal mail, etc).

    Cheers,
    Becky
