My "Free Ebook" list building idea

I would like to know your comments on my idea which I am developing for my email list building free gift.

Basically, I am in the process of writing an fairly long, but detailed and extremely high quality ebook which explains how you can make a micro niche site that will promote Clickbank products.

However, instead of offering the WHOLE ebook for free to the person who opts it, I plan on releasing the "Part 1" of the ebook instantly once the user subscribes, and then dish out lets say the other 6 sections over the period of a week or so.

Why I want to do this?
1) Give the person very good reason to not unsubscribe once receiving the initial free gift.
2) To build some trust with the user, by them getting to know that I am continually sending them very high quality content ect.
3) So I can present the subscriber with an offer throughout the emails of the free sections of the ebook. Eg, "Before you dive into part 3, I really suggest you check out this affiliate marketing course, I'ts great! (Affiliate Link)".

Has anyone ever done anything like this before? And even if you havent, what do you think of the idea? Do you think it would be very effective?

Any comments would be greatly apperciated!

Pretty sure this is about as straight-forward as you can get when it comes to email marketing Definitely not a new idea but yeah it should work just fine.

I think you have the right idea about setting up your opt ins and how to effectively communicate with them...but...

If you want to break into the IM niche I think you need to think outside the box a little bit...

Everyone is offering the same training. It seems to be the same idea everyone is doing right now...

The idea I have is pretty New, however the detail I will be going into in the ebook, I will be showing exactly how to do it, and exactly how to make money doing it.

I'm certain if a subscriber gives the idea a chance and spends some time doing it, they wil make money doing it. I have already made quite a lot of money myself using the method.

        Great idea guys!

I'm giving away a high quality E-book on "Practical Guide on Investing Silver".

So if I split it into 2 parts during the climax & only release it upon purchase, will it work for this investment niche?

        What do you think?

Maybe you could make a shorter version of the report as your free offering, and then make the full sized book at the OTO. Writing an ebook takes time, I"m just saying try to monetize your efforts

Great idea. You could also use the other parts of the courses to lead readers to other products you might have

The purpose of the ebook and the content in your autoresponder series is to build the relationship with the subscriber, so when you promote something they are more responsive. In that case, if your part 1 of your eBook is good enough, they would be more eager to find about part 2. It's just about over delivering value.

Have you thought about creating a good quality and closely related report for your free offering and then selling the higher value ebook.

    Usually works well.

If it's an "exremely high quality ebook" then sell it rather
      than simply giving it away.

Instead of trying to sell an affiliate product in your initial
autoresponder series, focus on building your relationship
with them and getting them to buy YOUR "extremely high
      quality ebook."

Personally, I'd take the completed ebook, and identify
the information that you can give away in your initial
      freebie and autoresponder series.

      Dedicated to mutual success,

If I already had a good enough email list of my own, I may have went down this route. However I am using this ebook as an incentive to build emails in the first place, if you get what I mean.

I am not interested in earning direct money atm, I am more looking into the long term future, and I see list building as the best we to do this.

The challenge with that approach is that you condition
your new subscribers to get and expect great content
for FREE. And that behavior may continue long-term
too, so you end up with a list of freebie seekers instead
of a growing list of BUYERS.

My goal is to build a list of prospects, make them an
irresistible offer, and convert them into customers.

Unique short report as freebie and more detailed guide as OTO and you should be on your way, and by doing this you start building a buyers list(more valuable in the long run) along with your prospects list, even if you only make a couple sales, its buyers you didn't have before.

Pre-conditioned traffic is also very important, this is basics of email marketing.

I think its a good idea and has been used by countless marketers and works well... Its all about building a list and building the relationship with your list... when your list gets free quality information when they signup and when they continue to get more free information over the next few emails, they should begin to trust you...

It's not a new idea but a good one. If you can run that effective, it is very much helpful. But the problem is, if first part of your ebook seems not at all important for your subscribers, there is always risk that they will unsubscribe you. Moreover sometimes, if you take long time to provide those parts, they may feel tired and loss interest on your e-book.

    sounds like a solid plan

this is what i recommend people to do and this was what i did to build my first list

i give away 16 very high quality videos around how to build profitable adsense and amazon niche sites

i then gave them the option of buying the remaining 7 videos

i drip fed a new free video each day over the 16 days and this worked like ganbusters because it keeps people opening your emails and people were actually emailing me all the time asking for videos which they had not recieved

when people start emailing you for missing videos you know you are doing well ;-)

    Hi,

Frankly speaking, please DO NOT write articles or create products to teach people how to make money when you are not even making any money.

Be frank and be honest to your actions!

There are too many dishonest people doing such things!

If you want to teach people how to make money, first you need to use the methods to earn money and to show the proof!

Great idea. Many marketers will offer the first 3 chapters of their ebook for free to build their list. It also makes people more likely to purchase your book because people will want to finish the rest of it.

It's a good idea but it's hardly new. I first saw it back in 1997 and it wasn't new then. I tend to agree with Shaun. I don't think I'd give it away. Not completely, anyway. If it's really valuable you might charge for each installment or offer the entire group of installments at a discount.

And you can still include relevant affiliate links in your emails. You can also include a resource section in each installment of your book with affiliate links. There are many ways to do this. Good luck.

    I wouldn't give it away.
I would create a shorter report style ebook to give away as an offer to build up your list.

You could upsell it when people subscribe to your list or your can try to sell it to them on an autoresponder.

Yeah that's what I would do.

You create the eBook and give away half of it as a "lead magnet".

People will read it and be all interested and HUNGRY for more. To get the rest of the eBook they would need to sign up.

If you e-mail them all the content over several days it's going to be harder to keep them as "hungry" for your information.

You'll have to use very good sales tactics to keep them engaged.

It's definitely doable but harder since your viewers will drop off after each day of e-mailing them.
