You could earn more dollars faster (almost immediately) by freelancing your skills and services to others that have a use for what you're offering.

Additionally, if you're a "beginner", freelancing offers you no only the opportunity to make some money, it offers you the chance to hone your skills and take notes on what other people (your clients) are doing to make money.

Of course, why does it always have to be "either / or"? Why can't you make some money freelancing AND starting up some blogs (providing you have something to write about that people actually would want to read)?

Don't limit yourself. There's enough time in the day for a person to get involved, deeply, in two different niches/businesses (in your case freelancing and blogging).

Nice thoughts on how to bring consistent results being a freelancer & even going in both ways, starting freelancing career & move with few blogs....

Just go round with your ideas on daily basis & you can even go with more ways to begin earning a lot of money.... A start can let you go 1000s of miles without any hassle...

  • I agree with GMD. To freelance these days, you almost NEED a blog to publicize your freelancing business and show your writing skills. Someone will be a lot more likely to hire you if they are able to see samples of your work. And it's great practice as you go.

I am a relatively newbie freelancer at oDesk, but only within 2 months, I can earn up to $1500 a month. I am agree with the others, you need to prove yourself as a quality freelancer. With quality samples of your work, you will surely get success as a freelancer....

I also agree that if you have no money whatsoever you can make quick money by freelancing. Can you write or offer some other service to people? If so, you can make some quick money and then put that towards whatever else you want to do.

If you are looking to make money sooner rather than later, I'd definitely recommend freelancing.

Although you will have to prove yourself first and build a reputation, if you truly have skills that people want and are of good quality, you will no doubt build a good reputation fairly quickly.

    All the best!

Definitely freelancing. I completely underestimated it, and now I really enjoy it.

Obviously we all have dreams of running our own business, but making money to live is a good way to build it up properly and carefully.

It depends on where your experience lies, why not make a blog offering your freelance services

Wlasikiewicz Nailed it on the head with what little information given. However, if you are asking this question you should not expect money to come pouring in because it seems that you have a lot you still need to learn about the business side of consulting and managing your own time.

If you have no money you should definitely start with freelancing. Blogging will require at least a small investment for domain, hosting, backlinks etc. and it won't be fast income (unless you already have some experience).

Once you're making some money freelancing you can start blogging in your spare time and eventually add to your income that way.

It is always easier to make money freelancing. Thats how I got started. But you need to be careful because you can get stiffed a lot. So here are some tips for you...

Use the escrow accounts people set up in places like odesk and elance. I made really good money at elance and always collected 50% up front.

Create a good profile on the site and get as many reviews as you can.

Learn how to bid relational. In other words do everything you can to get people to talk to you. It helps in winning the bids

You dont need a webpage or anything to get started

Elance and odesk does cost money to place more bids but you should be landing about 1-2 jobs per 10 bids. If your not change your approach.

I actually created some training videos on how to use these type of services...I cant place them all in this post but I will share the first one...it kind of gets you going in the right direction...hope it helps

If you want the other four videos that goes along with this one PM me...

Both. First, create a simple writing website to advertise your services as a pp mentioned. Then, start a blog in a niche you're passionate about. During the first couple of months, spend 80% of your time freelancing and 20% working on your blog. Post on your blog at least twice a week.

Then, once your freelance income has stabilized, change your posting schedule to once a day. Add an opt in form. Start a newsletter. Write meaty, well thought out posts optimized to target long-tail keywords. Focus on getting PageRank and increasing your traffic. Keep freelancing the whole time. Begin monetizing your blog as opportunities arrive. And they will. Start working on an info product that you can sell on your blog and to your list at a discount once you've amassed enough subscribers.

I've done all of this myself and it's working out well so far.

Hello Carlos. Have you checked out Fiverr? That's one of the best places, if not the best place, for total beginners looking to make a few bucks with no money.

wordpressmania, here's the problem with that avenue for beginners. How many beginners do you know that are good content developers?

I'm not saying beginners shouldn't start a blog. I think that's great. However, they shouldn't put all of their eggs in one basket. That's why I recommend they try different things in order to identify strengths/weaknesses and make adjustments accordingly.

        What's your educational background?

        What skills do you have?

You basically need to develop in-demand gigs that provide some form of value to prospective customers.

Freelancing will help you to earn instant cash based on your expertise. It is not easy for a newbie to earn money through blogging because blogging needs a lot of time to have quality visitors, subscribers, conversion etc. Even if you want to earn from adsense only, you will struggle a lot.

As a newbie freelancer, you should try and get started with fiverr first. There you will be able to justify your skills well. It's just an opinion from me.

I suggest that you do both. Use the freelancing gigs to generate quick and steady money. At the same time you start freelancing you can slowy get your feet wet with blogging. If you work on your blogs when things get slow on the freelancing or in-between jobs over time you should be to build some money blogging and you will end up with two revenue streams instead of just one.

Freelancing is much faster. With blogging you need to do SEO work to make some money with it. If you get good at SEO you can offer those services to local businesses for a really great fee, this is the easiest way to some passive income.

  • Both freelancing and blogging at the same time will make you loads of money if you have traffic to your articles. Freelancing, however is a much more lucrative and fast way to make money online, you can spend a few hours to write a small e-book on a popular niche you are familiar with.

Then upload the articles on the Warrior Forum as a WSO (Warrior Special Offer), DigitalPoint marketing forum or even EBay. After some time, people will start buying from you via your own PayPal account or Credit Card and you can get cash almost instantly.

With blogging it's a long-term kind of thing so don't expect it to be good money when you have just started. It takes passion and dedication to your blog and most bloggers quit after a few weeks. Blog daily and use internet marketing to bring traffic to your site, then you can sell your merchandise on your own blog as well.

I hope these tips will help you get started on making money online.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask I would be more than happy to answer.
