Static page on blog or link to other site

I am looking at promoting an affiliate product and am not sure which is the best way to do it. I currently have a blog in the niche that i am interested in and have found a product that i want to advertise. Which would be the best way to do this.
Setting up a static page on my existing blog or setting up say a squidoo lens with a link from my blog.
Any advice would be appreciated.

    If it is easy for you to setup a static page with a payment link, that is probably a good starting point. Then if your idea starts to work, you can always upgrade your system.

    New versions of wordpress have a one click option to make the first page a static page.

    For me, I make a presell page with links to the product, but have a link to the blog at the bottom.
