Does Your Klout Score Matter?

To some extent we have been using Klout to gauge our social marketing effectiveness. I have read articles in Forbes etc stating that people are starting to include their "Klout" scores on their resume's.

Do you have a Klout account? How important do you think achieving and maintaining a high score is?

Is there a way to leverage a high score to make money?

My Klout is currently a 62.

Though I am relatively new to tracking social media items, I think Klout does matter. I would love to hear more opinions regarding this.

Im Not sure how accurate Klout really measures, But I love Klout. Anything that shows your name at the top of Topics that the whole World is looking at... IS AWESOME to me!

I was talking to a respectful Jv prospect tonight and my thought was this, they hype on klout has not made it yet but yes it is a very important number, I hope to see more on klout soon because they measure a geat deal of leverage on our twitter facebook accounts ect.

Thank you for the replies. It seems like one of you think Klout does matter because it shows your leverage on facebook and twitter and one of you think it doesn't matter except to those who think it matters.

    Any specifics or more opinions?

      Hi chronicleseo,

      Does Your Klout Score Matter?
In a word, no. Why would it?

I have read articles in Forbes etc stating that people are starting to include their "Klout" scores on their resume's.
Personally, if I was in the business of employing people, if they included their klout score on their resume I would put them to the bottom of the pile.

I hope to see more on klout soon because they measure a geat deal of leverage on our twitter facebook accounts
Can you define for me what 'leverage on a twitter account' is? Is this a complicated way of saying that someone has a lot of followers?

If you look closely at how klout is structured for a few minutes, you will quickly see that just like many other entities around us, the system is totally corrupted, unreliable, faulty and therefore meaningless.

It's a website designed to make a profit for the owners. It's a long way down (in terms of priority) to the secondary purpose of the website which is allegedly to provide an accurate social media profile of the users, which as I said above is not at all accurate as it can (and is designed to be) easily manipulated.

It matters so long as the hype around it is maintained. The more people talk about it, the more it matters. However, it will only matter to those who talk about it (newbies to IM or those who are regular internet users). It is quite the clever model, build some hype around it and then rely on newbies to hype it more and continue the snowball effect.

The only time I have been asked about my Klout score was by a hip "social media" manager who buys into using Twitter as the defacto social media tool despite Twitter is comprised of 80% bots LOL Social media manager??? LOL

As someone else said above, don't try to show off your Klout score to someone who knows about IM as you will look like a rube!

So instead of the actual score being valuable, the metrics that it provides could be. For example it lets you know in one glance how many "likes, comments, retweets, etc" from each of your social platforms.

Are there other platforms or programs where this info can be automatically compiled and easy to view?

And Thank you, the replies are getting into the type of detail that I was looking for.

I do not know of any platforms that compile your social media metrics like Klout. I would be curious to learn of some (free platforms)
