As yet that's untested by a court - so nobody can possibly answer it with certainty.

Some say it's a perfectly legitimate MLM (though I think in this instance the only people I've seen saying that were actually promoting it); others say it's an illegal pyramid. Until adverse regulatory interest grows to the point that a court eventually makes some kind of declaration, these things tend to be a guessing game.

well historically MLM programs are sleezy, But if the shoe fits...

IMHO, people are better off making a membership site and taking all the profits. Rather than buying lotions and soaps that cost 10 times more than retail pricing

Actually, they're not at all. MLM is a pefectly legitimate and respectable business model. The problems to which you refer have been with all the things pretending to be MLM's that were actually illegal pyramid scams (as courts declared).

The point is that it's very difficult for a layman (and sometimes difficult even for a lawyer) to tell them apart.

I suspect that you and I agree about this particular company, Thomas. But some of your comments show only your prejudice against MLM companies, some of which actually sell lotions and potions that cost less than retail prices and/or higher quality items without retail equivalents (and many, of course, have nothing to do with lotions or potions at all). There are also some which your description fits perfectly, it's true. But it's a shame (and certainly does you no favors at all!) to offer your description as a generalization, because that's only going to get you "not taken seriously". And with some reason, to be fair. In this specific instance, I'm "on your side", but even I feel the need to dissociate myself from your expression of your prejudices.

An Empower Network member spammed by Facebook profile less than a minute ago. There's nothing here. It's a pyramid in the classic sense of the word.
