when and how to build an email list ?

Hi all,
I am bit newbie about building an email list, I heard that it's a very powerful marketing tool, so I was wondering about a few of things?

1. My website have only one product to promote (it's in my signature), should I bother making an entire list for only this product ? Since I don't even know what should I write as updates for this product 2-3 times per week?

2. Or Should I have separate lists for each niche having multiple websites in it?

3. How to add people on my mailing list, techniques? how to implement this box that asks for email on word press? and where to effectively put it in my website? Any programs used?

4. Should I put in my emails the affiliate link directly sends people to the products owner site or should I direct them to my website first?

5. Any tips in writing the emails, besides of course writing quality content

Advises in any of these questions are very appreciates, thanks all

    Hi

Start a list now, you dont have to update them 2-3 times a week. You know they are into fitness, so you can do a kind of content curation, share fitness news with them.

    2. Or Should I have separate lists for each niche having multiple websites in it?
I would do one for each site so you can know which site is building the most responsive lists and if you sell of a site you can send the list with it.

    3. How to add people on my mailing list, techniques? how to implement this box that asks for email on word press? and where to effectively put it in my website? Any programs used?
Offer a free fitness product in the body, sidebar or as an exit popup for people.

Try diff places, testing will tell you the best place. Aweber is the list management I use and they are simple to use (they do have help videos I am sure)

    4. Should I put in my emails the affiliate link directly sends people to the products owner site or should I direct them to my website first?
Well start by emailing them info , not aff stuff instantly. You could send them through a redirect on your site so you can always change it to another offer as well as being able to track it.

Remember the worst emails are the ones you never write. You can always improve on what you have written

That pretty well sums it up, but I would like to add that if you feel that this product is good enough to promote, then you should build a list.

I know several people that after building thousands of subscribers, just email to them once a week to get their paycheck

The time to build a list is right now, and yes it's a good idea to build a different list for every niche.

    Yes.

While you have only this one product.

When you have a list, you'll find there are other products you can promote too (even if they're someone else's).

Once every 5/6 days is good (for me).

    Yes.

One website and at least one list per niche is good.

The more you segregate/divide lists, right from the start, the better. There's no downside. As long as you use a sensible autoresponder (GetResponse/Aweber/others), it's always possible to send an email to multiple lists but not send duplicate copies of it to anyone on more than one list. All automated.

An opt-in form/box provided by GetResponse/Aweber is good.

I like "top right" on the landing page. If you use Wordpress, you can put it in a "right sidebar" and then it'll appear on every page ... and on the landing page you can have some text "prominently incentivizing"/"promoting" it. And even have a big red arrow pointing at it, if you want. (I wouldn't do that on every page, though).

This is something you can test.

(Some people prefer "top left". I think "top" is good, though, usually).

Again, you can test this, too.

    I do some of each.

the first thing i will say is you need to focus on your foundation, basically make sure everything is set up so that as soon as you start driving traffic to your squeeze page your system takes over from there

so you need a squeeze page, quality free gift, OTO`s are vital if your using paid traffic such as ppc or solo ads. An upsell if you have one and a follow up sequence

I made a post the other day which will help you out and it gives some more info about sales funnels

    Focus on two major things
1.) Build a list. The bigger the list, the better the outcome.
2.) Sign up for a autorespondant for your email system.

Good Luck! PM me if you need help.
