Ultimate Goal: 3500 subs x $19 p/m = $69 965

This is something that I have been thing about for a while now: The power of membership sites!

But the ultimate question is: What would people subscribe to for $19 per month?

Would love to hear what other membership site researchers have to say.

Thanks

I would only subscribe to a site that contained content I was confident that you were passionate about.

    Passion = Real Value

So, only you can answer your question

Something of real value that I can't find anywhere else. Don't take this the wrong way, but you will find it difficult to retain 3500 subs without knowing what they actually want. The membership strategy seems to be taking off right now with a lot of sub-par marketers setting these systems up. They are no doubt useless and just another marketer looking to make more money, forgetting about the number one goal of online marketing, which is to provide value.

a very interesting thread because i have just created my own IM membership site

the price really depends on how much value people think they will get by joining

if your a complete newbie then its not something you should be thinking about IMO because you really need some miles on the clock before you can start running a membership site, you need to of had a lot of experience in your field first and been around the block so to speak and had some success

the income potential is def there but one of the driving forces behind a successful membership site is the affiliates

3500 is a lot of subscribers, not to say you cant get that many of course you can but build it one by one rather than set a massive goal first

my initial target was 10 people and i reached that, then my target was 20 i reached that, im currently at around 44 and its building nicely

Im only charging $17 p/m at the mo. Some people charge $37, $77, i know 1 marketer that charges $97 per month

if your thinking about creating a membership site then they are good but just make sure you use paid tools, don`t try and cut corners and use free scripts, its a waste of time

a few hundred dollars to invest in top quality membership software is nothing, you will make it back in no time

You've got 44 members, THATS FANTASTIC! Can you elaborate please Paul? When did you start the site? Traffic methods? Content structure? You said IM Niche?

    Absolutely agree on providing value.

I know the case of a marketer who is in the weight loss niche and she charges in the realm of $70 p/m for delivering PLR stuff to her subscribers. You can tell in her content that she is not passionate about delivering value to her subscribers as it looks very amateurish with plenty of grammatical errors and uses ghostwriting for any Q&As. Unfortunately the weight loss niche is full of gullible consumers and despite she has been called out numerous amount of times for her cheap approach, she manages to make it. All she does is post updates on Facebook with pictures of herself on holidays and in IM seminars while posting once in a while a motivational phrase.

There are exceptions to the rule as per above but you most than likely will have to provide value for long term success.

If you're offering good value in exchange for their money, then yes.

Here's my take on this. I am currently promoting a membership site that pays me $40 per month per subscriber, and I don't even have to create any content of course, since it's NOT my site.

For me this is a way better route, because I can now focus 100% on driving traffic to my squeeze. I love to LASER FOCUS and my focus is on TRAFFIC, pure and simple!

        Hi Thomas,

Not putting all eggs in one basket is sound advice.

But remember this: As long as you continue to enter new prospects into your sales funnel, the number of new customers should be higher than the people who unsubscribe from the service, and thus your income should keep growing, as long as the program has got a decent retention.

If you have tons of traffic already it's good idea to figure out something you can give of value monthly.

Another idea is to outsource software/programming for things that are repetitive in nature, then charge monthly fee.
