I just received this message through my support desk and wonder if this is a kind of scam?

"Someone is using my name fraudulently on your site. Please let me know who I can contact to have the posts removed. I can send a notarized faxed letter and provide all my contact details once I have a person to contact at you site. Thank you.

305-496-7816 PH"

There's no info on his name nor the post. Furthermore I never use anyone's name in my articles or posts.

Any insight?

Yeah, that's what I would do, too. I think someone's just trying to get to you.

Wouldn't your support desk require an email address?

If not, I'd do nothing. It's up to the complainant to tell you WHAT name he claims is being used.

Call him long distance ?(very long distance) - I wouldn't.

I definitely won't call him. That's international call, not long distance since I'm in Indonesia. Lol.

So I just replied to his email address that he provided and asking for his name.

        • I get a ton of these emails all the time, just ignore them.

Just got another reply from him. It turned out that one of the comments in my blog uses his name and he wanted me to delete that comment because he said he never wrote that comment.

It's so ridiculous! There are millions of people in this world and it's possible that there are some people who have the same name. Furthermore, blog comment is not the responsibility of the blog owner. It's the responsibility of the commenter, isn't it?

What harm can be done in calling him? Just give him the number to the local Kinkos fax machine if he wants one. That way, you protect yourself from fax blasts.
