Because then you'll steal all our traffic sources and cut us out as affiliates...

Think it like this, last week I found a traffic source and bought advertising on it, I'm making double my money with my commissions. If my advertiser knew my traffic source then they can just cut me out, go advertise on the site themselves and they can be making four times as much.

This happens way too many times. One time I was the #1 affiliate after creating a great website, developed my own slogan, and obtained a couple dozen testimonials from doctors around the country. Then the merchant closed the affiliate program and decided to copy my marketing strategies.

Too many merchants view affiliates as competitors and an "expense."

That said, some are great and you don't have to worry about it (as much). When it comes to ClickBank - pffft - a lot of "interesting" stuff can happen.

It is surely the minority thinking this way - it makes no sense. If you believe an affiliate is your competition (not only is that crazy but) why would you let affiliates promote the product in the first place?

LMC makes a great point. As a vendor, yeah, I'd like to see as much data as possible, but I understand that it wouldn't be fair to all affiliates.

ownergolan, are you using an analytics program (like Google Analytics)? I find that, and a link trackr to work pretty well.

It can be annoying when a good affiliate finds a unique crowd of people that are your perfect customer. But that's okay - let the affiliates have their secrets I say. Having said that - nothing "bugs" me more than the old (direct) / (none) found in Google Analytics.

It may as well say "guess cause we ain't telling ya":

LMC you do have a point, but im also reffering to the affiliates, as a person that also promote CB products, i would like to see how many clicks i got per day, not how many sales. This is crucial for optimization.

Jessica, Yeah i do have GA on most of my sites, the thing is you cannot know how many actions occourd on specific baner/link. I know you can watch on In Page Analytics the clicks on a link, but not on an ad, and that is what im using more.

What your take about the affiliates side? if im promoting a product on a website, i cant know how many i converted to sales, because sales is the only metric they provide.

The issue here is ClickBank being dumb, not the vendors (which are sometimes).
Dont they want me to know how much i sell per X clicks on the affiliate pages? Thats the biggest motivation for any IM'r, to know that from X refferals i get a sale.

    Feeling dissapointed from them.
