Hello everyone - new to here. I have a question about how to get a rough idea of how much to charge for someone that wants to place a banner ad on my website.
I have a PR0 website, about 3,100 visits last month, the website wanting to place a banner on the pages is from the UK.
Anybody have an idea of how much to ask for?
Any info would be great,
thanks in advance.

3,100 visit last month divided by 30 days... looks like around 100 hits per day. How are the hits gathered and where are you leading them to on your site? (By the way, welcome to the forum).

Not sure how they are gathered, I have an affiliate site, keywords are mainly model names and/or numbers. I have about 30 pages on my site. Tried looking at Google Analytics, not sure I understand that quite yet

I would say $100 bucks for the month and just do bigger banners to start. You could then start paying for some real high end traffic and boost your rates. Maybe do 3 250x250's and one banner on the header.

They are also enquiring about cost for "each page". Never done anything with selling advertising space on my site, so don't know a whole lot about it. $100.00/mo seems kinda high for 1 page. Here's what I got:

Subject: Enquire about the banner advertisement
      We are ................
We want to put a banner in your blog page .
How much is the monthly fee for each page ?
We can make the payment by paypal. Please let me know if you're interested in the banner advertisement.

I think $100/mo is ok actually. It's not that expensive.

In my opinion I would say $100 a month for a banner is high for a pr0 with that traffic. Are the 3100 unique visitors?

If the site that wants the banner is selling something highly priced then they may go with it. But I have a friend who sells banners on his site and he gets a load more traffic and get $50 a month (its all pretty subjective of course, the companies that buy from him are selling cheapish items).

I would say go with what makes you happy, do it for one month and then review it.

        Good luck

Are you sure that this was a legitimate enquiry? If you have no existing banners on your site and they approached you out of the blue with that exact wording, it doesn't look genuine to me.

I think $100 sounds about right. Personally i still feel it sounds a little low, as always expect advertisers privately adding adds to your website to pay a little higher than the normal advertising companies (you have to remember that there is no inbetween man). Anyway $100 work at around £60 and maybe £2 per day. I personally think you could get away with charging them £100 pounds a month, but maybe over speculating a little.

Along these lines, how much can you charge for a link?

Someone asked if they could put a link on my site. It will be within an article. She mentioned she was willing to pay for the link, so now I am wondering how much to charge.
