Been a member for a while now, and a lurker for longer. I've never really seen much bullshit peddled in the sig-lines. Sometimes you find a bad-apple, but their one line posts are usually a dead giveaway that whatever they are promoting in their sig-line is equally crap.

You are in an internet marketing forum. Forum marketing is one of the best ways to start making some cash, so why would it surprise you that we have the ability to promote (our own stuff) through sig links?

Hype sells! but as stated above there are some of the forums better products and services in peoples sigs! .......at the end of the day it would be majorly detrimental to the person if they put rubbish in their sigs!

Don't agree with you there. I think signatures are great ways to help people, but being involved on the forum to just be involved is also a great way to help people. It's about adding value. If you see it another way, you probably won't succeed.

I kind of agree with you. Actually not for the unrealistic amount of backlinks. But more in the sense that most of the backlink tools are what causing all the forum spam all the time. Taking into account i have never used a automatic backlinker or payed for links since starting my website and spend a week building up a couple of hundred backlinks. I do find it a little hard to believe that any of the unrealistic backlink figures in the signatures does not discredit people in Google.

I kind of do feel like trying it some day to see. However, the amount of forums i see every night now, with people scouting around building up signatures to sell with pointless comments or just really band spam i do wonder how affective it can be. Sorry guys.......

Using your signature in forum posts is an accepted/recommended marketing strategy.
But you need to have a sig that stands out and attracts someone so much that they want to click it.

That's why you get many sigs with images in them.
The whole range of sigs include - standard/boring/tasteful/striking/attractive/bizarre
- all just trying to attract attention

That's what i call marketing strategy. Its true what was said above the if its too good to be true you may ignore it but some may also be true. We'll never really know unless we give it a try but i would suggest to ask your self first before you click on it.

I think it would be rather strange if people didn't take advantage of their signatures. I mean if you're running a business then taking advantage of every advertising channel is just good sense.

Especially if they are free and quick to implement like the signatures.

Although I do see your point, the hype can sometimes be laughable.

Don't worry too much u'll get used to all these signatures floating around on the forum..but don't ignore everything..u never know when u come across a wonderful idea/deal/product/services tugged somewhere in the signature..just be selective ..

Yep, really, people tend to offer these "magical" methods to be super rich and successful in 5 minutes without doing anything and then the "buy this product for $xy comes".

Well .. here's what the internet marketing forums. Advertising is the strategy of any warriors here.
You may have to judge when you click and then see what the content in a person's signature link.
Not all can help you find a solution for you, and it's up to your choice.
