Try this site: KnowEm Username Search: Social Media, Domains and Trademarks

Just type in whatever your brand name is and it will show you a lot of web2.0s where that name is available.

I agree with Mekanism, Ezinearticles was great in the past. It has lost HUGE Authority with the new Panda and Penguin updates.

I use a set of about 7-8 Web 2.0 properties including

    Blogger.com
    Squidoo.com
    Tumblr.com
    Facebook
    Linkedin.com
    Youtube.com

They are in no particular order. I like to vay things up. I don't think it looks good to use the same pattern all the time. I also vary the link text including generic CLICK HERE type links. Everthing must look natural.

From what I have heard and read, the article marketing is dying with the updates google is conducting. So much of it is duplicate content. I think Blogger, Squidoo, Tumblr and Hub Pages are a great place to start for backlinks. 100 quality backlinks are better than 5,000 forum signature backlinks in terms of ranking for keywords and getting traffic from the search engines.

Actually i started my first web 2.0 lenses today and yesterday on Squidoo. It was not until i did it, that i noticed how effective the website is. You can gain a backlink for you site, use keywords and also make a profit at the same time. So i would really not just discredit Squidoo.

Just go to Fiverr, pay someone $5 to do web 2.0's for you and focus on other tasks.

Squidoo and Zimbio in particular seem to be ranking quite well nowadays so a nice additional platform to put content on in addition to your primary website.
