What kind of niche site is most ethical ?

Finding a niche, OK, ranking for it in Google, OK.

But what kind of content is most ethical for your niche site.

I see a lot of niche sites with claiming they are reviewing products while it are actually rewritten or copy/paste reviews from amazon products.
Or its just rewritten commonsense stuff which is not really wort anything but just written to rank high in Google.

I want to create niche sites but also offering a service, not just fill pages with content that is rewritten or copied from other sites.

So my question is, what kind of content is the best for niche sites if you want to offer some real value.

Do something you really know about and start a blog. That is what I am doing. One thing to remember is nobody can know everything. I start out with a topic within my niche that I know a little about. I sometimes will look up info from other sites just to get a little more knowledge then I keep writing. I think this is pretty ethical as almost everything we know we learned from someone else then repeat it in our own words anyway.

If you also look for news stories and sum them up in your own words while injecting some of your opinion, this is giving your viewers value. The reason why it adds value is that maybe you help them find out what is going on by bringing up the news subject. Then putting your own spin on it may help them learn something they don't already know or isn't in the article.

The answer, of course, is to offer real value. In other words do an actual review on a product you have actually seen. Give the pros AND the cons. Don't write just for the commissions - don't even consider the commision if it's going to be a review. Just review the product or service honestly.

Make your reviews original not by spinning or copying and pasting but by actually writing a review.

Of course there may be a place for preselling or warming up the prospect but do that only after you are convinced the product is really what is says it is and the price it is sold for is fair.

One way to be ethical is to write your content for your grandmoter or 3 year old daughter. In other words someone you love and would never want to hurt or betray.

Another way is to not write a review for a commission at all but take the Consumer Reports approach where they earn their money from subscribers who trust their judgment. They do not get kickbacks or commissions from what they review. It's a real review not an advertisement.

The most ethical site is one where you don't lie about the quality of the products you are promoting. The reason people use Amazon reviews is because the people who leave comments about products don't have a vested interest in them (won't receive a commission or anything like that). With that said, you should never just copy stuff. You should read it and put it in your own words. You also have the option of actually buying the products you are reviewing, which I do a lot.

Which would you want if you were trying to make a decision about a product:

    1. A bunch of made up stuff to get you to buy the product from someone who has never even bought the product themselves?

    Or

    2. A real review from someone who obviously owns the product, likes it and tells the good and bad about it, shows photos of him with it, etc.?

Great post. I couldn't agree more. We all need to think about this when we are reviewing products.

I don't think it's the "kind" of niche site that's ethical or not ethical. It's how the site is used, based on your description. I also HATE those phoney "review sites" as well. Like many others, I put a lot of weight into the reviews I find and I want REAL reviews when I find them.

The best content for a niche site is one that stays as truthful as possible.
