Setting up Facebook for IM

I have a personal FB under my own name, very private, and can't be reconfigured into a business page. So I need to open a new account for IM specifically. Facebook basically has two options: a regular account or "Create a Page for a celebrity, band or business". So which one do I go for?

Should I create a whole new account under a business name, or should I just "Create a page..." that, I assume, is based off my personal page? Which is the best option overall?

i think the best is create fan pages for your bussiness and make that official fan pages

So I should create a dedicated business account, then use the "Create a Page for a celebrity, band or business" option to make related pages?

You can login to your private account and create page. Nobody knows you are the owner if you don't LIKE your page from your private account. So, don't LIKE it with your private account if you want to remain anonymous.

I think, if you create page and you're not logged in, it's without admin - gone to the wild...

My suggestion is to make a fan page. With them, you yourself can still remain anonymous as most fan pages don't actually give away who the page creator actually is. This way you don't have to deal with making a new and separate account.

There is one more thing that I want to point out..well at least from what I heard at a webinar from a successful FB marketer. He suggested that if you were to advertise on FB and do their whole PPC thing, it's best to make a separate account. This is due to the fact that if for some reason FB doesn't like your ads, it can put your real account in jeopardy.

Food for thought! Thanks for pointing that out to me.

So I'm now thinking I should create a new account under my business name, and go from there. The business name I have can be used as a parent company name, so for offshoots of that I could then create fan pages for them. Does that make sense?

edit: I did some research and found this on the Facebook Help Center (highlights by me):
Why is a Page a better solution than a personal account for businesses, brands and organizations?
Personal accounts are optimized to work for individual people instead of businesses, brands and organizations. Facebook Pages allow artists, businesses, and brands to showcase their work and interact with fans. These Pages come pre-installed with custom functionality designed for each category. Developers also build an array of apps for Page admins to add to their Pages. Unlike with friends for personal accounts, there's no limit to the number of people who can like a Facebook Page.
So creating a page off my personal account would be best, according to that. I'll just have to be extra careful what kind of ads I put up.
