Is it a good idea to give away PLR as a freebie for a squeeze?

I bought some PLR that I was gonna give as my freebie for the squeeze. It looks like pretty good content its a 100 page ebook. Is this a bad idea?

    Hey BigBallin,

It sure is a good idea. Put this into practice...

Create squeeze page for FREE stuff... and then redirect to a nice, cheap offer.

Let me know if you have questions!

Nothing wrong with that as long as it is quality information! I like to go through and add/edit to add some of my own personality and thinking into PLR but you don't have to if you think the PLR is something your readers will actually find useful. Of course make sure the license of the PLR doesn't say that you can't give it away! It doesn't happen often but sometimes a PLR seller will say you can only sell the finished product for $x or more.

I agree with AmandaT. I think a bit of your own voice would go along way then just using the PLR provided without modification. Just add a short intro and if possible, a quick out-tro/conclusion to the each chapter coming from your own personality about the topic. I do think 100 page is a bit too lengthy for an ebook. I prefer an ebook under 50 pages as attention spans, in general, are short IMO.

I'm kinda disagree with AchievingDreams....by giving away free PLR stuff, you get app. 90% low quality traffic...I would rather promote something as Free WSO and get genuine interested ppl...

saying that you can put a twist by having two or three affiliate produtcs's banner adds on your down load page...to get something out of your free offer@@

How does giving away a high quality PLR report that gives readers information they find valuable translate to poor traffic?

Exactly. Could not agree more. This is some of the best traffic you can get. PERIOD.

I think he meant that it only builds a list of freebie seeker, which is quite true in the IM niche.

I'm not too sure about doing a free WSO like he said, but doing an offer with a 99 cent product is also a good way to go. That helps build a buyer list, which is likely to be more responsive than a freebie one.

Buyers may be better than "freebie seekers" but that just means you need to try to turn them into buyers.

I couldn't agree more here, I have trod down this road once before in the past, response is good for the initial freebie however it was a real struggle to even get anyone on that particular list to buy a product that was $3, So in my opinion going by past experience i'd opt for an offer that is, at the very least, 99cent as suggested.

The question is.. What are you trying to accomplish with your subscribers?

The answer to that question will determine whether you should give away PLR or not.

Absolutely it's a good idea. Give people what they want in exchange for their email. That's IM 101 Make sure the content is good... don't let people feel cheated for giving you their email. As one of the posters suggested, edit it a bit if you want.... Here's a good idea, what ever the report is about, throw in some affiliate links into the report, and now you have a list, and possibly made a few $$ in the process! Ya dig?

It is a good idea to give people something valuable in-exchange of their contacts. Be sure to give them best produts or they will make your mail as spam in the long run.

Why would it be a bad idea? If the content is really great and it's something you think your subscribers will be interested in, then certainly you can give it away as a freebie upon signing up.

There are a number of ways you can go. Quick and easy of course is just to use the PLR as a freebie to get email addresses. This will work because good PLR is seen to be high value.
You could give the whole PLR product away - but could add some affiliate links inside - most people just give away/sell PLR stuff without doing anything to it - but many may click through those affiliate links.

So this will probably get you subscribers, and if you put affiliate links in, some commissions.

You could still then take the PLR [you say it is good content] - and with a quick re-write of parts/change of title/new cover, sell it as a product you have produced.
Doing this will give you three possible areas of returns from the original PLR product - get subscribers with the PLR, get some affiliate commissions from clickthroughs by future readers, and sales of your own product.

This way you maximize the possible returns from a single product.

Have you actually sat down and read the 100 pages of content? Is it of a quality that you would be happy to put your name to, and give a good impression of yourself?

If the answer is no, then take the chapters from the report, and write your own thoughts on the subject, or better yet record a video of yourself explaining them. Now you have a unique product that you can give away.

Spend some money to get a e-cover so that people know who's list they're going to be joining. If you just have a blind squeezepage for a "free report" people are going to put in their "groupon e-mail" expecting to be sold to.

The more personal branding and hard work you put into the process the more reward you will get out.

Lastly, make sure you try to get the best quality traffic you can, regardless of what lead magnet you use crappy traffic generates a worthless list. If you're passionate about the niche of the PLR report you should already know the best places to advertise.

I think it's a BAD idea to use PLR content as a freebie
    for your squeeze page.

    Why?

Because you want your subscribers to build a relationship
with you and get to know your approach to your subject.

If you use PLR content, you have zero uniqueness and
just place yourself as being not much different than
anyone else who's using similar PLR stuff.

Personally, I want to create a freebie gift created by me,
in my voice that positions me as the expert in my field.

Plus the fact, a 100-page eBook - no matter how good
is not a good idea for a freebie gift anyway.

Instead, create a more easily consumed freebie gift that
leads people to buy your front-end product.

    Dedicated to mutual success,

    Shaun
