If you do choose to get into this niche, you will do really well.

It is good to find a niche you know about. Don't put up a site telling people how to make a million dollars if you can't even make a buck online. If you know about something that makes it easier to stay focused and to be able to write about it.

I suggest it's something your passionate about. At the very minimum you should be enthusiastic enough to do research on it. Otherwise you WILL get bored and giving up will soon follow.

I think doing anything we can to turn the odds of success in our favor is a good thing, picking a niche as mentioned above just makes sense.

Think about it this way - you wouldn't pick a university course you wasn't interested in, would you?

      I second this advice.

I will tell you this, finding a niche that you are genuinely interested in or know a lot about will make your job infinitely easier. When you're trying to churn out content and you know very little about the niche or you're not interested in it, you're going to get stuck, fast. Or, you'll spend the majority of your time researching rather than creating.

The advantages of picking a niche you are passionate about are not to be taken for granted. It really does make all the difference, in my opinion.

What sports specifically? For example, if you are into soccer, start a blog about soccer and promote soccer equipment.

Who cares? You can go one of two routes:
              1. Create your own clickbank product and promote it
              2. Promote physical products (Amazon, Commission Junction, eBay, etc)
              3. Understand that your basketball demographic will be mostly men so build a basketball site and promote Clickbank products geared toward men
Just think outside the box a bit.

Babies & Kids are always a good niche. But it's very broad... you'll have to get more specific - What are you good with concerning babies and kids?

I'd personally avoid both "make money online" and "health" as a newbie. Every newbie and their brother tries to get into "make money online" niche when they first start, even though they don't know how to make money online. As for health, unless you're a doctor, giving advice in the area of health can be very dangerous. If you mean more like diets, fitness and healthy lifestyle, then that's ok. But, that niche is also massive and hard to break into.

The trick is to ask yourself what can you see yourself involved in that you would still be involved in 5 years from now. For example, the personal development field is massive and hard to get into; but, I decided to do it anyway. I'll still be reading, researching, and writing notes about it anyway, so I might as well keep a site going about it.

The best niche is the niche that you actually know something about. I'm into a few different niches and do very very well with them. That said, you may not do so well since you may/may not be familiar with them.

    My best advice:
Make a list of broad niches that you are interested in and then break them down into sub-niches. Choose the one you know most about and then figure out how to monetize it. Then, go monetize it.

Placing yourself in front of a niche that is "Evergreen" and always has masses of hungry buyers in them is key to consistently making a good income online.

Weight Loss, Make Money Online, Self Improvment etc.

Plus there are loads of Sub-Niches you can dive into within these so the limits are limitless so to speak.

All the best my friend and keep up the momentum once you begin!!!

I agree that some lean on working with a niche that we are passionate about. Do understand that your goal is profits here, some of the niches we have passion for will not make a single cent. Do your research and make sure that your customers have more passion/hunger/desires about the niche and are willing to pull out their wallets and pay.

There should be a balance between what you like and how much profitable a niche is. Even if you don't know about a niche, but ready to read and research about it, then go for that niche if it is profitable.

My first 2 websites I created were on topics I have not even heard of, but I ended up learning a lot and liking the niche by creating them.

If a niche is profitable, even if you don't know try researching and in a couple of days, you will learn a lot about that niche and start liking it.

  • Use google's keyword tool. Choose one with low competition but has a few hundred searches.

Try this. Go to a forum on a subject (topic) you are interested in and know something about. Look for threads you know something about. Engage with those discussions. Keep an eye on what others are finding useful and interesting about your contributions. There, is the clue to your first niche.

Finding a niche to "exploit" is not just about finding something you are interested in. It is about finding something you know about that your market are telling you they need. Don't sell to them. Look for ways to help them and in doing so you will be drawn towards the types of products you can develop and/or supply that they will be willing to pay you for.
