Article Submission Tips Wanted

Hi all,

I'm kinda new to article writing and submission so you have to excuse me on that part.

My question is, what is the best way to drive traffic to your website through articles?
Is mass submission best? if so, through a software or outsourcing?
Is it best to manually submit them yourself?
At what rate should you submit them, one directory a day or 50?

I know there are many great ways to do this and I'm looking for a single solution, just a few pionters for a beginner?

Thanks in advance
Heimir

Submit manually to ezine articles, goarticles, isnare, affsphere, and ideamarketers.

submit 5 articles a day to all
Isnare won't let me use html unless you pay for it or get platinum, which is full.

I am confused as I would really like to submit articles there, could anybody please let me know how to go about that?

As for article submission tips, also submit them to social bookmark sites for a quickie boost in traffic as well as getting your article indexed faster in search engines.

In order for Article Marketing to be truly effective, you have to do 2 things right off the bat.

        1. Do proper keyword research
        2. Make sure you analyze your competition correctly

Both points above have everything to do with each other in the sense that if you do both of them correctly it makes your job a whole lot easier. Use the following tips for guidelines as they help me more than you can imagine.

Keyword research - When doing your research make a spread sheet or keep a list of all keywords that are getting more than 30 searches a day and less than 150,000 competing results in quotation marks.

Before anyone goes nuts about the 150,000 number, read the rest and it will make a little more sense

Analyzing your competition - When looking at competition, one of the most important things that you want to look at is the competition WITHOUT quotation marks. Ideally, you want to find the keywords that that have the following types of pages on the first page of Google.

        • Article Directories
        • Squidoo
        • Hub Pages
        • Free WordPress Blogs
        • Yahoo Answers
        • Other "web 2.0" type of sites
There are a ton of keywords out there that have MASSIVE competition, yet the search engines choose to rank the above types of sites for some of the top spots. This makes it easy for you to get good rankings -- using the same types of sites.

I don't care if there are 150 or 200,000 results for the keyword in quotes. If the front page is dominated by the types of sites that I listed above without quotation marks -- the rankings can be had

As far as a submission process, you really have to decide up front how much time you can dedicate and how much money you have at your disposal, both upfront and on a monthly basis.

Mass article submission sites can definitely work very well if you stick to a submission schedule and don't OVERDO it. What you want to do is submit one or two articles a week max so that the amount of backlinks that you are building on a daily and monthly basis are both moderate and consistent.

The thing about the links that you get from mass submission though is, over time some of the links will start to disappear so, you will want to have new articles distributed to make up for the backlinks that are lost.

If you don't want to pay for a monthly service you can pick up a software such as Article Post Robot for about $100 I think and it is only a one time fee. It comes with 430 or so sites that it will submit to for you and you can outsource the account creation for about $15 somewhere like Outsource to Freelancers, IT Companies, Programmers, Web Designers from India, Russia, USA, and more - oDesk which will save you a ton of time and aggravation.

Now, when actually getting ready to submit an article that you have written pay close attention to what sites are ranking on the first page. If it is an article directory like EzineArticles look at the source code of the article that is ranking and take the keywords out of it.

Make sure that your article has the same keywords in the keyword field and then submit it and start building backlinks to it. You can do this through mass article submission or through things like RSS feeds, social bookmarking, or even getting links from video sites such as YouTube. Another tool that you can use which is free is Comment Kahuna.

If you use the same keywords and build links consistently, there is a good chance that one of two things will happen...

        1. You will completely take over the other articles position
        2. You will be listed directly under the other article
Because of number 2 it is important to write a VERY compelling title for your article to attract eye balls to it in the event that you are listed as a supplemental under the original article that is ranking.

As an example if the article you are trying to beat out is titled...

        "Lose Stomache Fat Today"

You might consider a title something like this...

"Lose Stomache Fat - The easist and Fastest Way to Get a Flat Gut"

This will draw people to your title and get you more traffic if you are listed as the 2nd article instead of the first.

Repeat the above for all of the other free or web 2.0 properties on the first page of Google and you will definitely see some results.

Sorry for ranting on so long, but after I started answering my keyboard had a mind of its own.

You won't get much benefit from low-quality article directories if you submit your articles there. If the same article is on hundreds of article directories, none of those articles might not rank very well on search engines.

When I do article submission, I follow Josh Spaulding's advice and submit only to top directories. If you submit your article to about 3 top directories, they are more likely to have high search engine rankings than if you submitted that article to many directories.

But when you want to have links, submitting to about 50 top directories is a good choice. You won't get much link love from low-quality directories so I don't think it's necessary to submit to there. I have heard that submitting to blog networks like linkvana is a good option too if you want to build links, though I haven't tried it yet.

    Thanks everybody for the help.
Now that I have the basic idea of submitting the articles I need to know the best place as where to get them.
I won't be writing them myself, not to begin with at least. So who do you recommend?
Is there a single individual or a service that gets your thumbs up

    Hi,

Lots of interesting and good advice in the posts, especially Jeremy's!

You can pay as much or as little as you like to have articles written for you. At the end of the day you usually get what you pay for. That said, it does not necessarily follow if you pay say $25 for one it will be the best nor if you pay $10 it will be the worst.

If you can manage a few articles a week that is great, but do not rely on just the odd article or two a month. Regular submissions are better.

I personally use a submission service now and have done for almost a year. I have not had any rejections using them either. I tend to use an article and write four or five versions of it so that not every directory receives the same copy when they submit it for me. That seems to go down quite well also.

"There is more than one way to skin a cat" as the rather unfortunate saying goes. Try and experiment with different methods and test what works for you.

I hope that helps a little?

    Ian
