Anyone renting mailing lists?

So, after being in the online business for 11 years, I started working on an email list. Well, I did it before a little, I had those news email submit options on websites, I emailed ex-members a few times, but I never really mail, I didn't know how to do it and I didn't want to learn on my lists and listen to the complaints. Now I signed up with aweber and getting some free joins every day, but I don't really know what to do with them.

I will wait until I have a few k subsribers and then what? Any ideas as what to sell to the people? How to make money ebooks? Diet ebooks? What do you guys do with your lists?

Wait for nothing. The first person who subscribes needs to hear from you on that day. And again within another couple of days. That's the point of having it automated. Otherwise the people on your list won't remember who you are by the time you communicate with them.

That depends who they are and why they've opted in, and how you've set their expectations before they opted in.

P.S. what does the text of your post above have to do with the heading "Anyone renting mailing lists"?

They are all iphone users, so middle class I guess. Could sell them pretty much anything, but I don't want to overmail them with crappy offers. I have no idea where to start, seriously.

The title, I meant if anyone wants to rent my list when it gets bigger and I won't know how to make money with it.

Ok, different question. If I had 1000, 10k, 50k subscribers. How much can I charge webmasters for 1 mailing? How much would you pay to have your product/offer/ebook mailed to a certain number of customers?

I agree with Alexa. Hit them right away with an email and make sure it's something of value. Even if you have one person on your list, mail them right away and make sure you blow their socks off with something great.

Doing that will make them remember who you are right away.

I have a little less than 100 now and no idea what to email them, to be honest. There is so many niches and products...and I definitely don't want to scare them away with some cheap looking email.
