    Kim,

If you have HostGator, go into Cpanel, scroll down to Fantastico ( it's a blue looking icon. ) Click it and it will take you to a screen that shows word press and a couple other blog choices, click on word press and you will be presented with a screen giving you a couple options to use the main domain name or a directory.

If you decide to keep your main one page for something else, then type blog in the directory name and click finish and you will be done other than to make sure to have the confirmation link sent to you. If you have any other problems don't hesitate to send me an email ( under profile ). Hope this helps.

Yep, what he said. It has to be a new directory name not previously existing

You can load wordpress in your root folder as html takes president over php so it will sit in the background till you change your index.html to say indexold.html.

To access your wordpress while it is hidden your will need the absolute url eg: yourdomain.com/index.php and then just login as usual.

This will then let your index.php come to the front.

You can then copy your current html file info into your wordpress site and when your happy with it change the index.html and then your wordpress will be live.

On most servers html will over ride htm and then lastly .php files.

If you need more help get back to me.
