Break it down to a popular subject related to basketball that gets a lot of searches

Seems to me that, like with my copywriting, the more specialized the subject, the better. Niche marketing rules. Maybe you can blog about certain statistics (most free throw points, etc) or talk about changes in the game or rules.

I want to be honest with you. Blogging is by far one of the hardest ways to make a steady/fast income online if you are starting out. But!
But you it can also be one of the cheapest.

That said, think about what you'll need to start:

1) Find profitable a niche (which you obviously have troubles with already, much like me )
2) Find a subniche, do LOTS of keyword research

This is the very first thing you'll need. It's also, in my humble opinion, the most important - since you can't fix it if you make a mistake. Sure if you buy fake traffic big G will slap your wrists but you can slowly come back. If you spend 2 months in an unprofitable niche - you're website is basically worthless


Since I am a start-up like you, I'll give you my best advice.

Start up providing a service. You'll go thru the same steps but after you set everything up, all you'll need to do is drive traffic to your very own website. Start with something simple so you can make some money. After you've had your first website for a few months you will have gained a great lot of insight and experience into important areas like:
html/java/php/css, SEO,social marketing and basically promoting. This is the route I'm going down and until now I'm very very happy. I created my website for about 10 days (my very first) with help from the WF, spent about $70 on building it (45 for theme, rest for a coder) and I'm getting my first sales already.



tl;dr: Blogging is hard for start-ups. Find a service to provide- make money, gain experience.

Write....Write....and write.....
I was reading another thread sometimes ago who spend a lot of time writing article and after 1 year he has got paid a good amount. He did not do anything but article writing and placing affiliate ads.

I used to blog without any success. I was in the internet marketing niche. I was greener than the ninja turtles

My suggestion is to blog about something related to consumer products. You don't have to be an expert, you can learn along the way plus you can also hire other experts in the area to write some posts every now and then. Blogging is something that grows slowly, so patience is the key.

Pay attention to what you just stated... You had a temporary defeat at something and you just gave up. This is the #1 reason why people struggle with marketing. Once they do not succeed they hop and hop again until they decide to wave the white flag and accept the 9 to 5 world indefinitely.

You have to make sure that if you are doing blogging then you need to do SEO also, if you don't do SEO of your blog then your blogs may not have good ranking in search engines.

Use any niche which is suitable for you, and you can write without any problem.....to earn money you can use Adsense and other affiliate programs as well.

But in beginning it takes hard work, you have to prepare your mind for this, otherwise you would fail.
