Hi everyone!

I've been working for many companies for years, and since the begining I' ve always wanted to work for myself, building my own business. I am finishing my MBA, and I think I have enough skills to achieve this.

Now I've been reading a lot about Internet business, and I am realizing that this is a very interesting, complex and demanding business, which is great for me. I am trying to develop a strategy to achieve at least $2000 per month online, so I can quit my job, and develop my businees full time. In a nutshell, this is my original 3 front strategy:

- Enter into the website flipping business: I choose this, because I know I can create websites very easily, and i can learn a lot about how people gain money from these sites. I even bought Mark Santiago's course to have a better insight of this. What worries me a lot of Website flipping is that, from my research, it's not very lucrative in this times.

- Selling good via Internet and ebay: This is a no brainer, and I have access to very interesting stuff to sell.

- Forex Marquet: One close friend is very into this, and he is teaching me, so I can gain a few bucks from here.

What do you think? Do you think this is a good place to start? I am specially worried on the first point....

  • Hi,

Think twice before you do so.

It is not easy for IM.

    • Agreed. I would recommend having at least 1 years worth of living expenses saved up before you try to quit your regular job for internet marketing. If you have a family, I would say 2 years worth. Internet Marketing is most unstable. Most people are just happy making extra side income.
  • Yes, this strategy would take a while to build up no matter what people tell you. There are some other quicker ways to start making money and then invest that money back in to make more.

In my opinion, the best money to be made is the kind where you put in the work once, and you keep making money from the effort monthly. That's what I would advise looking for. Get plugged into something and stay focused.
  • Internet marketing is not a 'make money quick' business. You will need to make a lot of effort to understand how IM work before you can ever make money out of it.
  • There are a number of legitimate routes you can take. Website flipping, like your mentioned, is one. You could also start a niche blog, where you go into a profitable niche market like dating, weight loss, video games...and write product reviews as well as articles about stuff going on in your niche.

You could become a ghostwriter, where you do research and write content for other marketers. You could start your own PLR store. You kind of just have to pick a legit method that you feel fits you and your situation and go with it. This stuff is very "hands on."

  • Unless you can find a way to scale your services, website flipping will be very limited. If you are successful at all it will be much like having a job.

And unless you have some remarkable special ability not given to mere mortals, it is hard to imagine that you would be successful in the Forex market. Just put your thinking cap on for a moment and ask, "Who is the competition?"

The competition in the foreign exchange market is hedge funds and central banks. This is like trading sugar #11 against Kellogg's or lumber against Weyerhaeuser. Really, what are the odds?

Selling on the internet? That is another matter. You can develop a real business and expand your success over time.

But I wouldn't go in with the idea of "selling some things on Ebay." Rather, go in with the idea that you will use standard business techniques to progressively grow and that you intend to eventually dominate your chosen market. In other words, think big.
  • Don't give up your day job just yet. IM is a tough biz.
  • If you lose so many times only by thinking what to do and what not to then it will be just the time loss. So if you really want to do something then try to start that as quickly as possible.
