I have 300k+ likes on my Facebook page- all genuine, what to do!?

Hi guys,

I'm a complete newbie at internet market. I set up a random page on Facebook 2 years ago on New Years eve. I don't know what happened, but over the last 2 years, the page has managed to attract 339,000 likes! These are all genuine people, and I haven't paid for any of them.

- The page is just about being awake to see the New Year 2010!
- I have mainly females under 25yrs old.

What's the best way to make money from this? I've tried advertising my clickbank URL for Fat Loss system, only to get 39 unlikes, with no sales in it's first day.

Any tips from the experts here?

Post entertaining, informative stuff to build a relationship with your audience. Do this for a while to build your responsiveness. Remember you haven't posted in years. Once you see people are responding make a recommendation every once in a while to a product that has helped you. Make sure you own the products you promote so you are not just sending people to a blind offer.

You could focus around resolutions, because it has to do with the new year. Losing weight, saving money ect. Make every day a resolution.

I agree...start trying to build some relationships. Put humor in their. Post to helpful, useful things that don't make you money.

Be creative...since the page is about something that's already happened, now talk about what's new. I don't know. If I were you, I might try to build a product based on the people who have joined. That's a LOT of people to potentially market to.

Make new posts just 3-5 times per week, same as for a blog, that way it doesn't own you.
Make your selling item either as least like like a sales pitch as possible,ie as for youtube offers, or go overt with ie I really like this and could use some pocket money to pay for college etc, please buy.
Try to identify what the common element is that drew all those people and try match it with more posts and find something to sell thats relevant, ie
Go on google and search for 'I have 300k likes, how do I monetize that?' you'll get all sorts of experiences from others.

    well done and good luck.

You can also sell status updates where people pay you money to post their message on your facebook page. Be sure not to post anything spammy or people will start to unlike you. I have made a few dozen pages over the last few weeks, who knows, maybe in a year I will wake up with the same thing haha.

Promote something on your fan page depends on the niche you are targeting.
Hopefully you have a targeted fans. If so, then start interacting with them.
Start updating your pages and make them go to squeeze page or your website and then subscribe to your list.
See if you can promote any product or make your own which will be the solution to their problems.

    The "facts":

    1. "Complete newbie"

    2. Sets up "random" Facebook page.

    3. "Newbie" doesn't know what "happened" and somehow managed to get "339,000 likes" from "genuine" people.

    4. The page is about "being awake to see New Years 2010". Somehow, most of these hundreds of thousands of likes come from "mainly females under 25 years old".

...as if somehow only females under 25 are interested in staying awake for New Years. 2010.

I'm sorry, I call BS on this.

Link to the page or it didn't happen.

On the practical side assuming all this is even true:

These people "liked" the Facebook page over the course of two years -- apparently people were still liking "staying awake for New Years 2010" even two years after the fact -- who says they are even coming back to the page???

In other words, you can't convert traffic that is a) never coming back and b) oh, there's no "b" please refer back to "a"!

    Hi azdaboss,

The key to calling the attention of your fans is by giving them a reason to notice you. How can you be noticed on Facebook? There are a lot of ways, including, but not limited to the following:
    1. Regularly update your wall with something that is relevant to whatever your are promoting. Make it eye-catchy. Use multimedia such as photos and videos instead of a plan text. It could be in plain text but match it up with an image.
    2. Use 'Notes.' Regularly write a blog about whatever you're trying to promote.
    3. Write a survey. Ask your fans about something relevant to your product or service. Asking is a good way to initiate conversation.

Remember, don't limit yourself to these 3 tips. There are a lot of things you can do to waken up those fans in your fan page.

Not the best crowd to be monetizing.

I would have it a good bet as soon as you start getting active on that page, a lot of people will start unsubscribing. The topic of yur pages is one of those things people just click 'Like' on for the hell of it. Once they see your messages start coming through they will start unsubscribing. Well that's what I think anyway.

Either that or Facebook will remove your admin when they start getting a lot of spam complaints.

Try to post different kinds of content that will attract the most likes from your fans.
Once you get their interest, try to make a free ebook on that niche
then give them the free ebook in exchange for their emails.
Afterwards, start making new ebooks on that niche and sell them to your list.

    My honest answer?

You'll spend more time trying to make money with it then actually make money.

    1. The page is based on something they did. They liked "staying up on New Years Eve 2010" because they did it. Why it is more female vs. males is simply that women as a whole are much more likely to like these "dumb" pages. Any of us with active friends on facebook know that 8/10 times we see a shared picture or a liked page in our feed the friend is female.

    2. They are not actively on your page and have not been for maybe 2 plus years. Even if you post something to the page it will never show up in their feed. Hell pages & brands I actually like and interact with hardly show up in my feed. This is how the facebook feed works.

This is a classic example of how likes are meaningless. Active fans that post on your facebook page are all that matters. The rest are worthless.

That said if you have nothing better to do you could try to get active on the page and treat it similar to a blog. Loads of tips have already been given here on how to do it. And you might get lucky and make money. But myself my time is worth way more per hour than I could hope to gain on this. Is yours?

Thanks for the input Aaron, I see what you mean, maybe it isn't that great after all!

EDIT: I just set a status 10 minutes ago, and it already has 50 likes and 3 comments. So I guess people are seeing this on their newsfeed.

I'm going to stick with this for a while see how it goes.

50 likes and 3 comments and you have over 300,000 fans?

I'm sorry, but your page is D.E.A.D.

I got over 800 likes on a post I made yesterday on one of my niche fan pages that has only 9,000 fans.

THAT is the difference between a proper fan page and one that is worthless.

Sorry to say, just move on. You got nothing worth anything there.

That's around the age they start liking a ton of things related to missing their parents, old toys they used to play with, old TV shows they used to watch. You can find all kinds of stuff on sites like ifunny that most people eat right up, just to get some response and activity before you market to them. It's what we call a "dead page"

Arent we giving up something good when we see a lot of followers / fanpage audience is leaving the page. I have experienced the same with few the people on Facebook who have a lot of fanbase available & they feel its not possible to interact with everyone but thats not true...

We must give some fruitful things to our prospects to respect their association

Wow! 300k likes in FB awesome. Well, before you do anything why not build rapport with those people who liked your FB. Tell something entertaining and informative at the same time, do this with your audience in mind. I believe more females, aged under 25 liked your FB so find out what they're interested in and reach out to them to build a relationship before you try selling them anything.

You could get some PLR reports uploaded on there, with Squeeze Pages added to them.

You can use Apps on FaceBook that allow you to display useful infromation on your Page.

When someone sees something they like from the Tabs menu, they go straight to your Squeeze Page.

Now this allows you to build a list and greatly leverage off your massive volumes of traffic you are receivng from Face Book.

Go here to start creating your F/B Apps: https://developers.facebook.com

Hope this helps and start creating those Squeeze Pages & Apps right away!!!

You CAN NOT put a Clickbank affiliate link in Facebook and have it work - users will get a Web of Trust "bad site" warning.. if this is what you did it may explain your unlikes - its a pretty nasty warning - too many Clickbank scams on Facebook I guess.

Try setting up a pre-Clickbank stop with a good old-fashoned splash page.

Facebook (CLICKBANK AFFILIATE LINK) ----> WEB OF TRUST WARNING

    • Set up a blog in profitable niche related to your fans interest.
Share interesting and informative posts .
From time to time post some product review with your affiliate link.
Remember do not overdo it as you may lose your fans by agressive advertising.
Keep reasonable ratio informative to promotional posts.
