Show yourself as an authority by giving good content and direction they need. Reciprocity will kick in and for whatever question they ask you, website, Fanpage, SEO, ask for their budget...

You are selling commodity products/services in a Buyer's market, where price is king and service providers are begging. You need to get out of there unless your price is your biggest benefit.

Direct mail or e-mail to small business owners is the way. Show them a package of services. As long as you are offering more value (from the buyers point of view) than you charge, you can charge as much as you like. Don't advertise where the buyer is setting what they will pay for what they want.

The vast majority of clients have no idea what they need beyond "I know I need to be online". You need to advise these people.

I sell a $3,999 program with a $199 monthly charge. Very easy to sell if you show the value to the client. Stop thinking of $2,000 as a lot of money. If you were selling a new car for $2,000, wouldn't it be easy? You need to prove value and show results of what you are proposing.

Call people already advertising locally with PPC ads. They are already spending more than you would charge them. Those sales are almost effortless. Featured listing advertisers on Yelp are also great prospects.

But I would look for local business owners. Many almost never get approached for these servicess except with spam e-mails.

Just do a search for "local online marketing" here and you'll find several WSOs that will get you started in the right direction.

      Hope that helps.

You are going to have to talk with people.

And you're going to have to get outside of WF. The nice things about the business world is the higher your price, the more they value your product or service.

Here are some "super posts" to get started with:

If you are going to make money by writing, you need to work on first the grammatical correctness, and then the style. I'm sure there are some literary or English grammar forums where you can get some feedback from people. Spend some time developing your writing and you will find that you are both more persuasive in getting new customers, as well as helping existing customers make sales which means you become more important to them.

    Hi Harry,

There's a redundancy on the sentence below. The word 'again' is redundant to 'repeat.'

You tried the first time and failed, as such you don’t want to repeat the mistake again.
There's an error to this one, too.

They tried to fix the problem themselves, only to discover that what they did wasn’t working.

    I hope this helps.

If I may offer a suggestion, I think you need to forget the fact you have a degree in English.

Writing on the web, and especially sales copy, is completely different to what you would use as an author.

A good understanding of the English language helps in this regard.
Exactly. I don't think there's anything wrong with the site. Sure, I might word things a little different, but everyone has their own unique style.

      Hi Harry,

Having 20 years of experience under your belt isn't a guarantee of us (all humans) not to commit mistakes. Even the president commits mistakes. That's a fact.

Just like what I responded to your PM regarding your perception to my post as an insult, you can't control us (all Warriors) in criticizing anybody else's work. What you can only control is your reaction. If you are expecting someone to sound nice when giving you constructive feedback, you got to realize that sounding nice on a non-verbal communication takes time and it requires a lot of texts to type.

You told me through PM not to give my feedback since you didn't ask for it. Do you know where you are posting? You're in a public forum. You're a War Room member. Perhaps you have not experienced what and how it looks and feels like being in a face-to-face discussion in a War Room, have you? You should know better.

Nonetheless, I'm sorry if you got offended. I know you're referring to the manner of giving feedback. My 'area for improvement' for that part is that I should have given my feedback through PM or anything that's not seen in public.

You stay cool, Harry. There's goodness in your writing, after all.

He told me that if I wanted to make the message stronger and more compelling, to re-write certain sentences. He even gave me examples of what ways to re-write the sentences. I took his advice for two reasons: 1) Because he is a close friend, 2) He has 30 years experience as a copywriter and marketer.

I appreciate the way he explains things because he doesn't trash my work. He simply explains how to make it better.

Produce quality that demands that price. Get a lot of great reviews and testimonials and you'll eventually be able to demand a high salary

I removed the corrections I posted though I feel they were valid. I still believe you will attract the clients you seek as you develop your writing. This has certainly been the case with me. If you are writing for someone else, you need to be open criticism, which can sometimes be harsh, but it can make you stronger if you let it.

If this were the first part of your copy on your website with examples or references, I would be very inclined to make an inquiry or delve deeper. Next, I would want to know more about what you wrote, as I might find that you wrote something similar to a need that I have now.

You might want to visit the copywriting section of this forum, as well. People tend to pay more for sales letters and copy that they feel will bring them more money. It's usually a much higher paid field of writing.

This isn't exactly a direct answer to your question, but I just wanted to put this thought out too.

Sometimes when you land those higher priced contracts you end up with around the same hourly rate as you already had, and just a more involved and demanding project to show for it.

It can, depending on the details, be more profitable to come up with a service package that isn't all that far from your current rate but that you can produce extremely efficiently.

If you can come up with a way to get paid the same amount but produce two, three or four times faster, then you are earning two, three or four times the hourly rate right out of the gate.

And you then don't have to move out of your comfort zone in terms of landing clients. You can operate in much the same way as you do now, but be much more profitable at the end of the day.

That's what worked for me personally, so I definitely say consider your hourly rate just as strongly as you consider your overall initial fee.
