I have a few questions regarding Amazon Kindle books:

Firstly, I have heard that Amazon has recently banned public domain books from being sold on their website. I had two public domain books already on Kindle, but about a year ago they removed one of them and left the other. And just in the last month or so the sales of the one that they left have picked up dramatically (maybe because they have removed the other public domain copies of it and my one slipped through the cracks). But I am worried that they might find this one and ban my account as a result. Should I just remove it?

My other question relates to books of my own. I am writing one book which I am planning to get people from Fiverr to buy (in large quantities) and write reviews for. Could I get banned for doing stuff like this?

What they banned, from my reading, is public domain books from being uploaded without changes. They don't need 48,000 different 'publishers' offering the exact same text of "Scientific Advertising" or "Moby Dick".

If you have a PD book, and there is no other copy on Amazon already, they should accept it. If I try to follow with the same title, sans changes, I should get rejected.

On a single title, you likely wouldn't be banned. More likely warned and the book taken off the marketplace.

There's no danger to your account if it's been posted a while and traffic is increasing. Really, just leave it and count your blessings

Have Amazon created a list of blacklisted accounts from people doing Fiverr gigs so that when they review any book the account which the book is on gets banned?

Is it safe to get Fiverr people to buy your book from multiple accounts they hold (some Fiverr people have 10 accounts or more).

Also, I had another good idea. Write reviews for all the top books in your category, post links to your book in your reviews and then pay people on Fiverr to say the review was helpful to get it posted as the first review. Would this get my account banned?

Take a look at Jonny Andrews kindle course. It's expensive at 997 but it's pretty good and Jonny Andrews, in my opinion, is one of the most honest, ethical marketers online.

    Just a suggestion though.

Yes, I have seen a webinar on this course and he sold it at $697 through Mike Filsaime's link. But I was deterred from buying it because it only had a 30-day money back guarantee. Usually this is not long enough to see whether the course is going to work for you or not. I recently got burnt buying someone else's course on this guarantee period.

I hear ya with the 30 day thing. I just think Jonny is one of the good ones so I got in and it's pretty good.

Hmmm. Most Internet Marketers are the biggest liars around.

But is it working for you?

How does it compare with Matt Clark's Amazon course (in which he teaches you drop shiping physical goods as well as Kindle for $997)?

From memory, he also sold it here (in the WSO section) for about $50.

If you are looking for the best (and best value) Kindle course, you can't go past this:

Start at the end of the thread and work back, if you want to see some great reviews and success stories.

    Why have amazon done that.
I think there is no sense in doing like this.
They should change this type of system in order to get the visitors back.

Sorry, I'm not going to help you find a way to game Amazon's marketplace by finding a loophole in a policy I agree with.

They aren't losing "visitors", they're losing the paid shills that tarnish the credibility of the system. Which in turn discourages the visitors (aka 'customers') that they want to keep.

Right off the bat as a Kindle author, I can tell you that it's against Amazon KDP TOS to purchase reviews of any kind. Not only that, but should you choose to go this route, it very well may be the readers themselves that do you in. Many readers are vigilant about reporting what they think are bogus reviews. If one or two complain to Amazon, those reviews have a good chance of being removed. Or, they'll simply leave you one star reviews stating that they hate your book and think the reviews are fake.

If you're simply a marketer looking to game the system and make a bunch of money, you'll find that this isn't the get rich quick scheme you think it is. If you have to ask if something is going to get your account banned before you've even published one book, take a good look at your motives for even getting involved with KDP.

Amazon readers are not looking for crap and if you post crap books, and bogus reviews, your account may eventually be flagged, and even outright banned. Once you're banned, you're OUT.

So, think about it. You can either take writing and publishing quality books for readers via KDP seriously, or you can outsource the writing to someone else and spend money to create good books. Success on Kindle requires honest effort, commitment to researching what people want to buy and long-term focus.

If you're looking to make lots of money overnight by trying to fool readers, maybe this isn't the right opportunity for you.

I am not trying to game the system. I have written a quality book which I am currently selling for $9.97. It sells about a copy a day at that price and I get very few refunds. I have a one review (which I did not solicit) and it is 5-star.

It is frustrating though that the book doesn't get any traction. Meanwhile others throw up absolute crap and then use their sneaky tactics to move it up to number 1 and make a ton of money.

I am thinking that I might need to fight fire with fire. Just uploading your book and expecting it to shoot to the top of the rankings because it's the best is as sensible as building a website, doing absolutely no SEO on it and then expecting it to rank high in Google. Sorry, but it's not going to happen.

        Tomato, tomahto.

You were asking how to buy reviews on Fiverr without getting your account banned. Doesn't matter what you call it.

Look, I understand you're frustrated. But just because your local drug dealer is eating prime rib and you're living on ramen noodles doesn't mean you should go out and start selling drugs.

If you want to fight sneaky with sneaky, within the rules, why not start reporting the books you know have bought reviews or used other illegitimate tactics? Get even by getting their heinies banned...

Why risk getting your account banned? Surely there are better ways to get some good press and marketing that will last in the long run. When I first started I created a bunch of fly-by-night pages and links and I am now kicking myself for that. Why? The time spent/wasted would have been put to much better long term use!

  • Howdy,

Interesting thoughts! I have also written a few books and am as many struggling with sales. One of my thoughts of boosting them was facebook. Therefore I created page named kindle corner - dedicated to promoting interesting books and authors. If you have written something, please feel free to post some thoughts about your book - and If you like the idea, become a fan. We will grow stronger together (as well our sales) - all best

I have author clients who give away review copies of Kindle and print books and that works well for them. Amazon does not prohibit these kind of review.
