A few questions on Clickbank sites

I am interested to create an ebook for selling on Clickbank in my relatively untapped niche, to be followed by a very slick sales page promoting it. However most Clickbank pages I see contain very little actual content and are rather thin. What do you guys do about having content on these pages so that it might rank? Do I create a WP blog for the content, and just have a random section of it for my sales page..? I always thought the sales pages were unique and on their own seperate domains ie Fat Loss Diet | Fat Burning Foods | Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle By Tom Venuto < no affiliation whatsoever).

Secondly, I keep hearing that the 'money is in the list'. But if I am just looking to drive (targeted) traffic to my mini site then what do I need a list for? Most 'mini sites' I see are just trying to sell a product right then and there aren't they? I always thought lists were for blog owners who will later market random niche-related crap to that list?

Please advise!

    Congrats on your new venture. Realize that a lot of vendors (the original content creators) - make 90% of their sales from affiliates - that is the real power of Clickbank and where I concentrate my efforts. Offer a great commission and let them do all the leg work.

    For a well-rounded sales site, you should have some content related to your niche (think articles) and a freebie give away (available via opt-in) to build your list.

      Guru, any tips or suggestions on how to incorporate content into my site? Just wondering your thoughts as most of these sites appear to be just one long sales letter without any real content sections.

    Thanks Guru I guess my confusion lies in the list still. I understand about its importance in selling products, but when exactly am I to be selling my product if not right there on the sales page? Is a list necessary? I understand the whole 'building a relationship' thing and providing good quality information before throwing out affiliate links but I'm just confused on the need for a list if the person is already there reading my sales page. Are you saying to offer a freebie, then wait a bit, then try to re-sell them on the same product that they originally saw on my sales page?

    Or alternatively, are you saying to have a list that I can use to potentially promote other peoples products down the road after i have sold them (or not) on my own product?

      Not everyone who comes to your sales page will buy - have a pop up that offers them a related product - perhaps a much shortened version of your product.

      They have to optin to get that freebie - and you have their email address.

      They are probably interested in the subject of your product if they take the freebie download

      You can then follow up with emails plugging your product - and other related products.

      Don't forget to put a link in the freebie, which is a very short version of your main product, back to your main sales page also.

      You can conclude your short version with something like:

      "For access to my 54 page full version of this report - check here ...... [your link]"

      Also many people who download freebies like your short version, use them a s giveaways to their own lists, or as freebies to get their own optins to build their lists.

      If your freebie giveaway has the link to your main sales page, your link then become viral, providing more traffic to your sales page.

      Bingo! There is a cost to get someone to your site (either money or time), so if you don't get an order you need to grab an email so you can re-market to them.

      I worked for a high-pressure sales company and when ANY phone call came in, we would ALWAYS have to ask for their name and phone number. No matter what. 99% of people will just give it up, if they asked why we would say "in case we get disconneted" LOL.

      Their name and number would then get entered as leads and called until they joined- if they became a member they got transferred to the SOLD list.

      So keep 2 lists: prospects and sales and market to them accordingly.

    How are you able to get someones email if they aren't willing to buy from your sales page? do you have a buy it now button and then also offer a free gift with an opt-in form? I tried something like this before with a squeeze page and then neither converted at all compared to just a sales page and just a squeeze page

      A lot of vendors offer the freebie as a "downsell" popup when the visitor doesn't buy.

      If the freebie is tempting enough, a lot of folks will bite, so you'll be able to build your list.
