Things that help speed up your production

So, I have seen it a few times here on the warrior forum, and more recently in an email.

Writing down task and setting a certain amount of time for each of them.

Normally when I set out to do something that involves working on the computer, I always seem to get distracted with browsing the internet, facebook, forums ect. So today in an email I received it talked about writing your task down and sticking to the allotted time you have set aside.

I have seen this many times in different threads, (probably while I should have been doing something else) and basically just ignored it. Well today I just happened to already have a pen and paper in front of me so I jotted down the few task and set a reasonable amount of time for each. Along with an overall time for the set of task.

Towards the end I was thinking that I was really falling behind. Anyway with all my tabs and windows closed. I just kept focused and working on exactly what I set out to do.

Once I was finished I grabbed my notebook to check off each task, and to make sure nothing was missing. I looked down at the clock, checked my notebook again, and I was literally 1 minute off from my time schedule for the entire set of task.

Even though these things shouldn't take that long, I am normally all over the place trying to multi-task. Which normally ends up with me looking at the clock wondering where the time went, and how I just wasted 3 or 4 hours with nothing accomplished.

This is just one thing that I will be doing everyday from now on.

I would love to here any other tips or ideas that other warriors use to stay focused and speed up there production while working online.

Sometime's patience is the thing that speeds you up! When you are impatience or rational about getting things down and earning money right away can slow you down. When getting that feeling of hopelessness or wanting to speed things up your going to make some mistakes. You'll all together lose focus, and you might even start focusing on shortcuts to getting things done quicker.

    Another BIG tip.

Do not open your email or social accounts until at least half way through the day. The beginning of the day is when you are most productive. Use that time wisely and leave all the other day to day tasks until later in the day.

If you are offering services like me, then start your day with your client work, focus on what you have to do and work at least 4 hours on daily basis, don't read email, don't research, don't use forum, don't check pm on freelance sites, first of all complete the assigned hours that you have to accomplish every day.

Yes... so true, thanks for the reminder. Whenever I'm in a haste, I end up spending more time and energy and doing a worse job. Whenever I take my time I find that I choose fewer actions and get more impact, finish earlier, and with great results!

Sometimes when I take my time, I realize that the entire task is just not needed and I'm better off dropping it altogether. This doesn't happen when I'm in a rush, I tend to lose the bigger picture.

There's a great free service called Trello that can help you get organized. Check it out.

For me it's not so much the distraction, but the ideas and thoughts that clutter up in my head. That's why I use a mindmapping tool. That keeps me organized and it helps me to keep focus on the tasks.
