Over on Safe-Swaps they have a section under Solo Mailings called "Up to 100 clicks".

Not really a "one size fits all" answer for your question. Sorry, I know that isn't what you want to hear but I will give you some ideas so you might be able to get a better idea of where you are trying to go.

So, I sell up to 50 click solos on safe-swaps currently and my list is around 2500. Not way trying to show off, not that I hope anyone thinks I am. This is actually a pretty small list. I want to give you my example.

The factor that is going to determine how many clicks you average from each mailing will be how responsive your list is. Your lists responsiveness will be determined by several things such as how much value have you provided them, do send out too much and piss them off (haha), and do they know, like, and trust you. Each of these are very important and they interact with and influence each other.

For more concrete numbers, the average click through rates are usually between 5%-1%. So if you have a really responsive list of 1000 people you could get 50 clicks for each mailing. Whereas, if you have a less responsive list of 1000 you might average only 10 clicks. This can go either way, I have see list more responsive and less responsive, this is just the average. Also, without new subscribers coming into your list on a regular basis, your lists responsiveness will steadily decease over time.

How this helps you figure our your question!

I agree with ShawnBrown, there is really no formula to guarantee those many clicks. However the more you have on your list the greater of getting clicks to a mailing. If you are selling solo ads to your list it is best not to guarantee clicks but to guarantee the actual mailings to number of emails in your list. When selling a solo ad to your list you should use a disclaimer that the number of clicks are not guaranteed and the viewing of the solo email is affected by a number of factors, ie how well your customers subject and email is written. That way if you do sell solo ads you will not be asked for a refund when your customer did not receive the number of clicks he paid for. I hope that made sense, I tend to ramble.

It is totally dependent on the performance on your website, how well it converts...

I would say you need around 4000 subscribers to get that kind of clicks, but don't take this for granted, since it depends on many factors.

4000 subscribers for how many clicks? The OP asked about 100? 200? or 500?

That's why the OP should have just used one number (such as 100) as a base instead of three to avoid confusion.

I don't know if this is right or not,but someone told me approximately if you want 100 clicks you would want a list of around 1500 people, for 200 clicks a list of 2500 clicks, and for 500 clicks, approximately 6000. But again it all depends on the responsiveness of your list and how intriguing the swipe email is. I could send something out to 500 people and only get 9 clicks... unfortunately.

As for safe swaps I have traded 20 clicks before, I think that might be the lowest, but check it out

If you are not confident in producing enough clicks from your list, then try 'Click Banking'. ie. the deal is to provide a certain number of clicks but no specified time. Once you fulfill the order then you get the agreed traffic back and the chance to build your list further. If your copy writing skills are up to scratch, 1000 subscribers should be just enough to get you 50 clicks.

      Awesome statement there Portlandrocks.

Build the relationship and people will seek you out to buy from you rather thank some marketers having to use every trick in the book to get their list to buy.

It's not really the size of your list but the quality. Obviously to get 100 clicks, your list needs to be larger than 100 subscribers. Test your list by sending a broadcast to it and see how many clicks you can get. That will give you an idea of what is your CTR. Then you'll know how big your list needs to be to sell those numbers of clicks.

As for ad swaps, as long as you've got a list you'll be able to swap with someone with a similar list size.

1000 subscribers at 5% is optimistic yet it's what the sales pages will tell you. In real life you will get about a 1-2.5% response rate depending on your swipe copy on average. If you send something targeted and the list is fresh you can get 10% +

List size has NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.

Only relevant variable is the quantity of clicks you can deliver.

You can have a 100,000,000 subscriber list that totally sucks, or a 1,000 list with a totally owning open rate.

    Catch my drift?
