WSO or Solo Ads for small product 'launch'

I'm at a crossroad and am now unsure about the best way to going forward with what I though I had already sorted out...

I prepared a new series of keyword research reports on exact match domain names, focused on the micro/niche site market. These could also be useful to auto-bloggers types.

Anyway, I was planning a WSO, but someone brought up the idea of promoting via solo ads instead. So, like a lot of warriors, I did a search on here and bought a wso that talked about solo ads, and learned in there, that mostly all of the solo ads want free stuff for their lists. However, I want to make income from these reports.

So, if anyone reading this has some advice on the matter, I would sincerely appreciate your help. I'm attaching a copy of a sample report, so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about.

Long story short: I want to sell 25 copies for $25 dollars each. Should I do a WSO as I originally planned, or should I do buy some solo ads and go that route instead?

Thanks,

Dan

    Why not do both?

A wso is probably a ton easier then finding decent solo ads - so I'd recommend doing a wso, if it doesn't work out then you have a fall back plan in solo ads.

      Hi Andy,

I thought about doing both, but as I mentioned in the post, most of the solo ad folks want free reports. If I go that route, I need to set up a longer sales funnel, whereas a WSO is basically a-la-carte...

Do you use solo ads to promote your products?

      Thanks,

      Dan

before i answer any of your other questions

why do you only want to sell 25 copies for $25, this is rather bizzare

As it stands now it seems like it would be easier for you to just create a wso. If you sell as many copies as you'd like then you're happy.

If your WSO is a bust and you feel like you should sell more you could create a longer sales funnel as you mentioned and then test out solo ads.

      A WSO will give you:

      • Vast exposure whilst on page 1 and 2
      • A permanent, indexed thread you can link to in your sig.
      • A base to collect social proof.

If there's no immediate interest from the recipients of the solo ad, it will be yesterdays news dumped in the trash to be seen no more.

Needless to say, a WSO is the best option!

I would do a WSO and then buy Solo Ads to promote that WSO or a squeeze page which then goes to the WSO as an OTO.

Either way getting a WSO is the best option.

Whats the advantage of sending solo traffic to a WSO page?
I see the downside- you are sending traffic to a site with a lot of links for them to get lost in...

One of the best uses of a solo ad is to build a subscriber list. And selling folks on your product directly from your solo ad doesn't work very well based on my testing.

On that note, launching a WSO is your best bet as 1) you'll earn an income by selling your product and 2) you'll create a buyer's list and not just a list of freebie seekers

The only thing I'll caution you on is the $25 price point you've set. A $17 or even a $27 price point will fare better

I would do a WSO. You could always do a solo ad later on pointing to your WSO.
