Getting paid for services

I am just wondering how you get paid for services if you are doing offline work? Or work done far away and there is no face to face meeting

Example..if I sold a service on craigslist and someone was interested, how would they pay me if doing it in person was not an option?

Would it still be paypal? Any other methods or ways to making it seem like a legit transaction for me and other person? Would paying by paypal turn customer off?

Any other methods of making a deal and getting paid would be greatly appreciated

Thanks so much

People like paypal, it's well known to be safe. Also though, allot of older clients don't like paying online, so you may lose a few customers just because of that.

It limits your client base and you most likely will not get high end clients if you don't meet them (ie 1000+). People spending that kind of money want to know who's working for them and if their trustworthy.

To us internet folk, I couldn't care less if I meet them in person or not, as long as we can talk on skype or something, but to allot of small business they want a personal connection.

It can be paypal. or you can also get the payment in your Visa card.
Wire transfer is another option. But all of them are not safe. So joining a mediator site is better for outsourcing.

Paypal is the first option to get paid safely. It's widely known and very safe. I also like to use Odesk and Freelancer.

As most of the internet marketers are using paypal so you must use it too..for offering services you need to have a professional website with multiple payment option.

Paypal - as many people have said above - is your best bet. You might want to try these alternatives instead if you don't want to use Paypal.....:

    WePay
    Serve
    Square
    Zashpay
    Clover Dwolla

Bank transfers should be avoided - giving your details out to anyone is never an ideal situation!

Absolutely my experience with Paypal is 100% safe and serve as a medium of exchange for IM. Before I use Western Union I had sad experiences in claiming my money.

I offer SEO services to both online and offline clients. I use PayPal for nearly everything I do as it allows my clients to pay me whether they use PayPal or simply want to pay via credit card. This goes for local and international clients.

Set yourself up with a business PayPal account and you will be set, you can set up one-off or recurring payment subscriptions.

There will be some local people who will prefer to do bank transfer or pay in other forms which I also accept but not many clients do this anyway.
