Do I submit to the top article directories only or as many as I can?

I have been thinking about doing some article marketing. But I don't know whether I should just focus on the best directories or try to mass submit to alot of them at once. I was told by someone to not waste my time with these as the backlinks they provide are weak. What do you guys think?

    What about all those other directories. Is it a waste of time for me to submit to them or should I do it anyways.

    It depends on your strategy. If you are doing it for backlinks, then submit to dirs. that have high PRs. If you are doing it for traffic, just submit to the top 10.

    I would say submit them to the top article directories first, then only to other directories (if you so decide).

    I've written a couple of articles a few months back and distributed them through isnare (an articles distribution service).

    Since some of the top article directories were not in their distribution list, I've to manually submit those same articles to ezinearticles.com.

    About a week later one of my articles were rejected by ezinearticles. It turned out that this scum bag copied my article (that were distributed by isnare), put his name as the author and posted it on his blog. The reply from ezinearticles was that the article was attributed to someone else and therefore they couldn't approved my article.

    The only way to get it approved was to get that scum bag give the credit to me as the author - Hahaha yeah, right! He and the site owner (that hosting the blog) never replied to my emails or comments. I also sent a complaint to isnare but without much sucess.

    Through experience those backlinks from smaller directories won't help you much. Better stick to the top directories.

    Prioritize first, submit to the main ones. However, if you have some time left over submit to the other ones as well. It never hurts to get your article out to as many places as possible.

      Well first thing you have to worry about when it comes to article marketing, is that the main reason for article marketing is to help build traffic and help build backlinks.

      And in order to get the most bang for your buck you want to have backlinks with high PR, and the top directories will have the higher PR and it will give you the best ratings for your articles.

      Now the next thing is to help build traffic to your site, and your site will get the best traffic if you go to the directories that have the highest PR because they have the most traffic coming to them.
