Are there any quality webhosts with Unlimited Bandwidth?

I mean, I see the advertisements all over the web for "unlimited bandwidth" but when you read reviews on the sites, you'll find tons of users complaining how the provider suspended their accounts etc. for "exceeding bandwidth" usage!

Obviously as providers of digital content, we'll have high bandwidth issues due to product downloads from the server and possibly also video downloads.

I wouldn't mind hearing from users who have found QUALITY webhosts that offer unlimited (or practically unlimited since it's so high) bandwidth, and their experiences with that provider.

Cheers!

We have HostGator and our own dedicated server. I found that the unlimited bandwidth and unlimited space is well worth the money for a dedicated server.
We've only had one problem in the past year with them and they fixed it right over the chatroom with me and were pretty diligent with it.

    Unlimited doesn't exist .

It's just a marketing hype to make the customers feel really full of themselves. The fact is, people barely even use 1 GB space, so it's pretty easy to offer unlimited.

However, if you read the TOS they will have some other limits, like the amount of files you can host, how many processes your website can run and so on.

Just ask yourself, if they can give Unlimited hosting to shared hosting people, why limit the people who use Dedicated Server, VPS or a reseller?

It's best to keep unlimited space and bandwidth out of the equation when you are looking for a host.

Reflecting what roosevelt said, no ISP can genuinely provide "unlimited" bandwidth. I know porn operators that would consume every inch of pipe (rimshot) (a double shot...) in video streaming if this were the case. Read the fine print.

      Hi Dexx,

What about using Amazon S3 for storing your downloads and videos. I hear there are ways to hide the location to make it harder for bandwidth thiefs to steal your content. Plus you only pay for what you use! I'm still looking for the definitive tutorial on how to do this seems there are a few all over the place but I am looking for something like Amazon Web Services for Dummies!!!!

    Hi Gary,

Go to my website. You can find the top 10 web hosting sites. Many have unlimited bandwidth. I use JumpLaunch myself and have had no problem with them.

    Regarding hosting, don't cut corners.

By all means be wise and upgrade as you need to, but penny wise pound foolish, especially where hosting is concerned. One lost sale could pay for a whole month of upgrades or even longer.

You get what you pay for comes to mind.

I have found that companies will just cap your bandwidth transfer rate at a certain rate if you are using a dedicated server & unmetered bandwidth. I had pretty good luck with unmetered hosting but things can get a bit sluggish at times.

theplanet.com is running a sale on dedicated servers until 3/31. That's who hostgator outsources to.

    Dedicated Server Web Hosting Solution

If you're expecting a lot of simultanious downloads, you might consider Amazon S3. It's pay per use but surprisingly cheap. ezs3.com is a great way to manage it (although the subscription billing on it is annoying).

    Good luck.

While the bandwidth maybe unlimited there are usually limits on server loads, simultaneous connections, etc and these will affect the use of bandwidth.

Cheap shared hosting is suitable for basic content sites or low volume file downloads, but if you have very large amounts of traffic, large file downloads, or database driven sites you should be on a VPS, semi-dedicated or dedicated server plan.

There is no such thing as Unlimited Bandwidth, that is used as a marketing gimmick just to get your to order. Fact is host must pay for bandwidth, some have larger amounts than others but bottom line is bandwidth is not free.

The best host is Web Hosting, Reseller Hosting, and Dedicated Website Hosting w/ cPanel - HostGator and dedicated is the way to go if you want a great deal of bandwidth.
