Subscribers Not via Subscriber Form - Hackers? Spammers?

When I had no option to subscribe to my blog with a 'Subscribe to my Newsletters' form, I got some people subscribing by using the url
/wp-login.php?action=register

to subscribe.

Are they all hackers, and if so, do they have malicious intent, or just genuine people wanting to subscribe, and who understand Wordpress more than I do/did?

But... what are they subscribing 'to'? What advantage did/do they expect to 'get' from subscribing before I have Newsletters set up?

And I dohave a Subscribe to RSS installed, and these people are Subscribing to my blog, not my RSS feed. So what do they want/expect?

Now I do have a Subscribe to my Newsletters form on my site, but people are still using the
/wp-login.php?action=register way to Subscribe.

Are they all nasty Hackers, potential spammers, or people who really do love my blog?

My main question is: What should I do about them?

  • Send them my new Newsletters?
  • Ignore them?
  • Or Delete them?
Thanks in advance,
Carolm

Carol, this thread from the WP support forum should answer your questions...

WordPress › Support » "New user registration on your blog aaaaa" what does it mean?

Thanks for that John. I had already searched Wordpress Support but only found one person asking this question, but there were no answers given - and the thread was marked as closed.

I'm going to assume they love my blog and send them my Newsletters. Those that are undeliverable or unopened will be weeded out.

Thanks again John, this question has been bugging me for ages.

    Carol.
