How to manage paid membership sites? Good membership site software

I'm going to start charging 19.99 a month for access to my forum and training videos, but I don't know how to manage them like who unsubscribed I would never know. I'm using webs.com and PayPal, any other membership site softwares to use and are easy to manage members and payments?

There are lots of Membership scripts to choose from. My
    suggestions would be:

Login Frequency Marketing - Lot's of excellent membership
    features.

aMember - long established, well supported and reliable.

LFM is a more complete solution with integrated affiliate
    system, drip feed, etc.

You are giving your business away by using webs.com. They could take your site down kaput over night...

You need to set up a professional site with a professional system (There are some great ones mentioned in this thread)..

theres lots of membership software and scripts to choose from

i have actually created my own membership site so im not just talking from theory as ive created one myself which is part of my business

    i have used:

    Fast Member - $197 -

    Optimize press - $97

Not cheap but a members site is a very profitable business model if ran correctly

i am not a technical person but using these 2 tools i can work them no problem and its good fun too

once you have everything set up it all works like a well oiled machine which is great and the best part is fast member allows you to have your own in house affiliate program which is great for building your members up without you driving traffic yourself

I have used Mike Filsaime's Butterfly Marketing Script.
You can download it for free here >> butterflyopensourcecode.com.
You must own a domain and web hosting.
    hope this helps.

I just started using Warrior Press. It is a little in depth, but it is a good platform. I believe there is a WSO that offers this at a special price.

It depends on your budget, but I recommend DAP or aMember Pro. There are many of membership script out there. Good luck with your choice.

I'm using DAP and it has some great features but in my opinion it's missing several vital features for a serious membership site.

For example authorize.net cancellations don't take place without the admin needing to manually cancel them in authorize.net. When you have hundreds or thousands of members that ends up being a lot of work and could be bad feelings if the member has to email you to cancel and you don't receive it or something. The member needs to be able to cancel themselves.

Another lacking feature is when a credit card expires or problem with billing they are cancelled. So essentially you will lose a member when this happens and you need to get them to rejoin again. Ideally their would be a grace period of say 5 days where they would still get access with a warning that their was a problem with their rebilling so they feel like they are still a member. Psychologically I don't want my members to think the need to repurchase. I want them to continue their membership. Small but important difference.

In additition I don't think you are notified when a member expires. I want to know right away so I can contact them and try to save them.

That being said it has some other great features and the support has responsive and helpful.

I just wish they would add these vital features.

    My advice would be this...

You're just starting out, you don't need to spend a ton of money here. Test it first to see if people will pay and stay. Here's what I suggest you use:

    1. Go to Google and type "Free WP Clickbank Membership Plugin"... there's a few to choose from and you don't need to pay for it.

    2. Get your membership sales page up and running.

    3. Go to Clickbank, pay them $50 and let them run your membership for you. They'll handle the payments, taxes, etc. PLUS, you now have a built-in affiliate program and they will also handle that for you.

Don't be cheap on your affiliate commission though. Go with at least 50% if you want to attract good affiliates.

Duston, could you go into a little more detail about having Clickbank run your membership program?

    Thanks
