Starting an Information Marketing Business

Dear Warriors,

I have decided to go into Information Marketing full time, I have a talent for writing but not fully developed at the moment. I have set a target for myself to make at least $1000 by 30th September. I live in Nigeria and would like to focus more on Nigerian market reasons being payment processor etc. i.e. paypal not accepted here.

Over time I have learnt that in order to make it big in information marketing, you need a list and in order to create a list you need a website and an auto responder then you give out free information.

My three deterrance to information marketing right now is setting up a wordpress site, creating the autoresponder form etc and linking to the free ebook download site etc. The whole automated process is what I don't understand, can anyone here help me with a link to a free resource that would teach me all that? I would be grateful.

Thanks

What I would do is look through the WSO listings and you might run across a free or low cost WSO that will teach you all you need to know about setting up an automated system.

    Hope this helps

    Hello...

We have old friends in Nigeria....I will be happy to walk you through some of this.

There are easy ways to set things up and start getting money in, WHILE you are mastering the individual parts. (easier than what I started with...!)

First, what niche or specific area of interest do you want to market in?

Is that niche big enough in Nigeria? Are there a lot of ads, banners etc on local/national sites?

You have a unique marketing factor.....you only want to reach your own country. Most of us are aiming globally. That factor affects how you take products to the market.

First, market research. Does nigeria have its own google site? Have you done any keyword research on the topic for your nation?

I know we are not supposed to give links on this forum so if you can visit my blog and look for a comparison of two courses, one is by Russell Brunson and the other by Lee McIntyre. Both cover what you are looking for and are very reasonably priced.

Having said that, why focus on information products only? Why not sell hard goods? Works great if you are selling a unique product or you are adding some kind of value to a product.

Blog actively at Bloggerkhan.com. I continue to be a student of internet marketing and am fascinated by how different people use the same tools to get different results. I also do reviews -often because I can't find a good review elsewhere.

I just read about GVO from your website and it makes sense but my question is are they providing me with a domain name or I have to buy that myself?

    Hey bizmogul,

    I see Google in Nigeria.

I also did a bit of keyword research for "dating" in Nigeria search results....and there are a fair amount of searches for related terms, without too high of competition. But "dating" is only one slice of the pie, and it looks pretty cutthroat in google.ng.

relationships and marriage advice may be a more solid niche to approach.

Websites: you can start with the free version of Wordpress, until you can move it to your own hosting. Have a nice header made on Fiverr.com for $5. Use a simple theme, and just do small tweaks to one of the standard themes.

Hosting your free report: I would recommend using Dropbox. It is easy to upload your report and create a download link for your document. Dropbox is free.

Autoresponder: I use Aweber, but there are many more available. Listwire is free, though I have not used them before. You just have to go to the Aweber site, sign up for the tutorials or go through them directly from the site, and learn how to do it by watching and doing.

It DOES get easier as you throw yourself into it and just get working.

    Does that help you?

For help with the technical bits and pieces you need to do such as WP site set up etc, there's not much better than searching Youtube. There are tutorials for pretty much anything.

If you go with Aweber for autoresponder, their tutorials are excellent. Both for basic set up and more advanced mailing functions.

      Hello Jerry,

An idea just hit me now. Apart from the dating and relationship niche I told you about, I can also blog about "Making Money Online". I have made a few bucks online in the past one year. For example, I made $169 from sales of my ebook I hosted on lulu titled "Black Gold Income". what if I can do a video teaching Nigerians the process of writing and hosting on lulu and how they can collect their earnings through a domicillary account, does that make sense. I was also a mystery shopper 2 years ago, but the mystery shopping job is not consistent, you are only contacted when there are jobs to do. I can also teach that on my blog, I would also include articles on personal development, mind mapping and the right mindset before delving into internet business. Most people have a misconception about internet business, they feel they can just jump in and start making money ASAP but they get frustrated along the way, I want to develop a system to teach and lead through a process based on my own little experience.

I tend to create a website with my name where I can teach people, I will get traffic once I keep posting good content, I can get their emails through autoresponder and one dey sell something to them.

Please let me know your thoughts.

      Thanks

        hello bizmogul

sorry i never replied....i only found this thread again by chance.

You should definitely go with what has worked for you. Since you learned how to sell $169 on Lulu, write a step by step report on how you did that. Then set up an account on JVZoo.com (it's free), upload your report, write a simple sales page, buy a domain name for yourself which redirects to your salespage, then make flyers or business cards to advertise your report and domain name.

        just get the word out.....

write a short article, with your name and domain name at the bottom, and submit it to every newspaper and magazine in your country. Give your article a 'local' title: "Nigerian Author Launches Training for Aspiring Writers", so that the local media will be more likely to pick up the story.

Thanks for reading....follow the link in my profile to subscribe, if you need any more input.

Why not ask your Dad to loan you some jeans or get together with some of his retailers and see if they can sell you at wholesale prices and that also only when you have a sale. That way you won't need to spend money on inventory.

Then market it as best as you can.

Regarding GVO, you do have to buy your own domain name. Either through them or directly. I prefer Moniker but there are many other domain name registrars.
