Is Posting Frequently or Not

As a post must be great, once a week is ok, I doubt someone could make daily great posts, and in the case someone could do it, will get tired

I think a very good post once a week worth much more than daily bad/medium quality posts

Althogh the ideal number of posts might vary depending of the niche, but for most, 1 weekly is ok

I have many successful blogs, let me tell you that you will not be able to write great content everyday. There's no need to do that anyway.

You will hear that some people tell you to blog daily because of the sheer fact that the search engines like it...but don't sacrifice the integrity of your blogs content just to suffice the search engines.

I post twice a week. This is a business for me. I don't just post random things. Research is needed, homework needs to be done, if you're going to write content that will keep your readers coming back.

Don't try posting every day. If its a new blog, you could probably post once a month until more traffic starts coming in & focus on SEO.

I think it might be a good idea to start out with about Ten good posts or articles (20 would be better - if you can handle it) for a new site. After that, once a week is good enough.

As soon as you get those posted, ping them & then start building backlinks. Also, Google is paying more attention to social shares. So, build a FB Fan Page & get "Likes" and people sharing your page. Google Plus & Twitter also count.

It really IS a lot of work to get things going. And, exactly what you would do would depend on what you'd want your outcome to be. For instance, there would be a big dfifference between building a "Wedding Blog" or hobby site, or an ECommerce website or a website for a Local Business Person or a CPA Network site or a site to sell Clickbank products on.

Why did you build the website?? That's the fifty-dollar question. Each different type of website would require different subsequent actions.

Bottom line, it's not about the frequency of your posting but the quality of what you post. The purpose of blogging is to attract organic traffic. I'm not saying that it won't matter even if you will only update your blog page whenever you like updating it, however.

Focus on quality rather than frequency. For the sake of answering your question, you may update your blog page once a week. We do that, too.

I agree 100%. If you can sell blog posts every day, by all means, do it! But in a personal blog for business, you shouldn't sacrifice the integrity of your blog just because you think you should post every day.

In the post Panda world, Google has been moving away from the sheer quantity / freshness of the content factor to the "value add of the content" factor.

Your posting should be driven by the intrinsic value add of the post rather than mere quantity driven pressure ( posting for the sake of posting a pre-determined minimum number of posts )

I remember reading this several months ago on Google's webmaster site. I believe lots of people misunderstood the meaning of 'freshness of content' factor. Freshness of content does not mean 'frequent posting,' however. For us, it does not matter how frequent or how seldom you update your blog page. Like what you said, it's the value-add that visitors are looking for. It's the 'What's i it for me if I were to regularly follow this blog page?' factor.

Nicole ~ although I don't think that one should steal content, I actually know a lot of marketers that are using "Curated Content" on a regular basis & are making TONS of money from the SEO and the readers that the curated content brings in.

Google has a complicated algorithm that it uses & it's important to look at all facets of every method to drive traffic. That would include content, amount of content, freshness of content, unique content, backlinks, the backlinks to the backlinks, social signals, interactions on the site, how long they stay on site (bounce rate), referrals from other sites, On-Page SEO, Twitter, Google+ clicks, Pinterest shares, Instagram shares, maybe even some Linked In (depending on site), or newspaper endorsements. There are probably a few more that I forgot to mention - but, it's late & I'm sure another WF member will chime in to help here.

Hell no. Who told you that load of garbage? Post when you have something to say. If you want to be consistent, then write out at least 20 articles as back ups and set your frequency to no more than 3x/week. you write for people, not search engines. (both really but you get my point)

On days that you have writers block or are busy, upload an article from the backup so to keep yourself on schedule. You don't want to bore your audience, but you don't want them forgetting about your existence either.

It depends on how large your blog is, I have seen blog is run by companies also and they post 100 of blogs daily, the more content your blog would have the more benefit you are getting.

When I started my blog I posted every day for the first month just to get the ball rolling. Now I post twice a week unless there's some news in my niche that just came out that I want to share.

No problem. Hey, don't worry too much about it. There seems to be some great points on here. Just write about what you know. As some said, content is the most important factor...just make sure it's at least 500 words per post

Remember, you are wanting to attract targeted traffic plus the search engines without looking like you are trying to attract the search engines.

When you DO post, make sure it is at least this many words, read the article and see for yourself. This is a simple way to get noticed by the bots.

As far as getting noticed by people, spend a little money and buy a social media dashboard. One that will post to as many social media sites as you can find. Check my blog out for some of these..TweetAdder is a good one.

Doing this, you don't have to wait for the search engines to rank you before you start to get traffic. Social media is a powerful tool, as Madam X has already explained

Whenever I first start off a blog I like to try and post once a day to get the website started up. Once I have an established website; unless it is a subject that I am really passionate about I do not most more then once a week...sometimes less. Although if you have things you would like to talk about or something with a big impact on your niche occurs you could always make more than one post. Also I feel like it depends on your niche...for example if you have a blog that is catered towards finance news....you may have posts once a day of different things occurring.

yes, at the beginning, when your blog is new, you have to post frequently,
after that, when the site is ranking high, not so often,
then it is time to build backlinks

It doesn't matter how often you want to post, what's important is sticking with that frequency. If you post everyday, stick with posting every day. If you post once a week, continue to do that weekly.

I like the idea of posting everyday as it gives your readers a reason to visit your blog instead of reading a post on another blog.

Even when it is linked to social channels, then expect how many can are waiting for you to share information on a blog & they will read it...

While in some cases posting once a day can be beneficial, this is not the norm. A good amount to aim for is 2-3 posts per week.

My general feeling is to post only when I have something relevant to share ..
That is sometimes 4 times a week, and sometimes once every two weeks.

This is exactly what it is, it is all just a matter of opinion. I post on my blog a few times a week usually.

I do not use my blog as a traffic generator though, I use it as a way to build a relationship even further with my list.

All of my traffic is sent to a squeeze page first to see my offers, get some free content that helps them, then as I write blog posts I email my list and let them know about it.

don't even look at keywords or optimize my posts, which some people will argue is stupid, which maybe it is...But my blog posts do generate new sales for me when I let my list know whats going on in my life, share any unique life lessons or observations I have made..

Maybe it's different for me because my passions and my business are merged into one, but I think there is no set answer on how often you should blog... Only your audience can determine that for you.

It COMPLETELY depends on the Blog and what you're readers are looking for/accustomed to:

If you're trying to provide insight on current news/trends in a certain niche than maybe you do post every day or twice a day.

If you're providing lessons/training maybe you only post a couple times a month or once a week.

If you're sort of a "magazine" style - maybe you throw up one or two quality interviews a week, share some of your own thoughts on a subject once per week and share something cool that other sites in your niche have done once a week.

Look at what you're doing, and what you're trying to accomplish, and go for that.

Of course this is assuming that you're talking about a website that is designed to engage readers and keep them coming back.

If you're wondering - "how many times a week will Google like it if I post to my blog?" - quit doing that

After looking at your site you could easily post as many times per day as you like.

You're in the "deadend job, spends all day surfing the net looking at funny stuff" niche - which is probably one of the biggest there is. It's also one of the most competitive but if you have the right online personality and can keep people coming back to see the next hilarious thing you share with them - you have no worries about "over saturation". It's not like you're working on an opus here

On a side note - that background graphic takes for ever to load

Lol. Yeah that's me. Except for the job part. I'm only fifteen so a job is a little extreme. But the most competive niche? Thats not good. And as for the background I'll get on that. But is it possible you connection is slow? It loads for me after about 4 seconds.

Never sacrifice quality for quantity. How do you do both? ...stay tuned.

If you want to grow, you want to post quality content--the more you post, the more you grow! Once a month won't do anything more than help you spin your wheels on Google page 12 for a rarely used search.

To get ahead of the pack, you have to do what they won't do. Post once daily six times a week. Put two on your blog....guest post with the other four. If you create quality content, This will create a steady stream of visitors!

In addition, create video posts and keep up with the social media. Incorporate these into your program for more growth!

Can't think of blog topics?....Google "blog topics." Focus on the posts that help you come up with ideas.

I don't know...I mean I'm with you on the pinging, and if you want to post that much you could, but I don't think it would do you any good. Especially a blog that is new.

Even a blog getting around 200 visits per day I don't think that you should post every day. You're not getting that much traffic anyway...I'm no professional and am not being a jerk either...lol.

I can see why you would post every day if you have thousands of visits every day...on one of my blogs, I DO have to post every day, but just recently started doing so about 3 months ago.

I started out trying to blog daily. I was new to marketing online and you can imagine my content quality. Needless to say I struggled...and wondered why! I think a couple times a week is more than enough. Especially if you have more than one blog....it's really hard to keep up.

Altho I do enjoy posting videos that I either made or found as well. Keeps it interesting and I have found they do very well.

Depends on the blog itself. Also it depends on you and your readers. I run blogs as I do autresponders. I do not bombard them, 1.5 to 3 posts every 14 days with one sale link no closer than 14 days together.
