Is anyone making decent money writing articles on Fiverr?

I have never tried to write any articles on Fiverr.
I don't like writing articles that much as it is so
I don't do much of it. When I do, I outsource as
much as possible but not at Fiverr as of yet.

Sounds like a chance to upsell. Start with a small word count like you said, then charge multiples for proper-sized articles.

Hi Khalil.

Yes, writing articles can be tedious. However, some writers can pump out quality content rather quickly. For me, it depends on the niche. For this particular niche, I'm passionate about it and there's not much competition on Fiverr. That's why it might be worth my time if customers are willing to pay reasonable rates. From testing things out, I've already seen there's a demand for it. I'm extremely curious to find out if others have had success charging .03 - .05 cents per word on Fiverr.

My business IS writing articles. I did try fiverr but found it wasn't worth my time. It seems that the less people pay, the more demanding they can be.
I do better with other sources and my private clients.

Writing articles on fiverr is not worth my time to be honest. I would need to sell about 40 gigs per day and most of those fiverr buyers would want at least a few hundred words.

fiverr works if you can automate the task.

I will check on fiverr to see how the top article writers are doing it. I will even go to the extent of ordering a gig from them and analysis their whole sales funnel. If they are making sales, then they should be doing something right.

What level of seller are you on fiverr?

Once you make it to level 1 you can offer extras, and treat the initial gig as a loss leader to find out if you can work with the buyer. If you provide good value then repeat customers will come back and buy the extra gigs to make it worth your while.

You can also include a link when you deliver the work back to your main site where you should be able to sell them bigger and better packages such as ghostwriting an entire ebook or a series of articles.

That's against Fiverr's TOS. You can get banned for soliciting business outside of Fiverr. At least that's what their Customer Support Department communicated to me when I inquired about it.

Adding a simple url to your own blog at the end of your work may be a little bit grey hat, but it is the same putting a business card inside the things you ship out via ebay.

It is just a way of telling your customers that you have a website, if you've done a good job they may visit, if you've done a crap job they won't.

At the moment fiverr seems to be fairly free from people selling "make money online" reports and all my buyers are after a service. As long as this continues fiverr should remain clear of those who will try to drag it down by selling a cheap product then looking for upsells via pressure selling.

If the scumbags get hold then adding any sort of link may become against the TOS and spoil it for everyone.

Does it mean that I cannot make any kind of relationship with a buyer outside the fiverr? If so, what is fiverr for ? I am supplying gigs to a buyer and it is not always important that I will deal with him or her through fiverr only. :confused:

I've tried offering gigs on Fiverr on writing but it honestly hasn't gone well for me. People on the micro-job sites like Fiverr usually pay for the top-rated sellers and leave the rest of us to rot. (Literally)

Fiverr only works if you have a programme that can automate article writing, which is impossible. People on Fiverr would much rather pay for backlinks, video responses or designs which they themselves are not familiar with producing. With freelance writing, your buyers wouldn't buy from you unless you have many positive reviews and have confidence that you will do a good job. After all, majority of people know how to write!

Otherwise, it's impossible. The lesser positive reviews you have, the higher your buyers will expect of you. Whereas if you have many positive reviews your buyers are obliged to give good comments otherwise they'll look bitter

I love Fiverr.....but only as a BUYER. Writing articles for 5 bucks a pop is going beyond trading "dolllars for time."

The players who make the decent cash on Fiverr are those who can offer "push button gigs" that can be cranked out with a click of a mouse.

Article writing doesn't fit that category. There are much easier ways to make bling.

A little tip. Paypal alows you you to add 8 emails. That means 8 fiverr accs. Fill every one acc with 20 gigs and you will have 5-10 orders per day.

My daughter is an article writer and she does very well. Try advertising in other IM forums (where it is allowed), where people are looking for quality content for their blogs and websites.

That's a great way to build up your client base and they are willing to pay more for quality content.

Well, I have since modified the rate for the sports content gig I currently provide on Fiverr. Apparently, the demand is still there. I've received 4 orders this week for a total of $70-80. At $5 a pop it would've taken 14-15 orders to get there. Even if I average 1-2 orders per week, it's still worth every penny. Less work, more money!

I get a enough orders on fiverr, but I also offer lower rates. I guess it depends on where in the world you live. Here, I can afford to spend 30-40 minutes for $4, which is about how long it takes me to finish one gig. In some other countries you probably can't.

I agree with Syda. It depends where you live. $4 per article is ok if you're living in a country where even USD$2-3 is the average wage per hour. If you lived in the UK or something then it would definitely not be worth the time. It's all relative.

How many words were you offering when you first posted the gig? How long did you have to wait until you could start upselling?

I offered 250 words for a fiverr. Maybe that is too little to attract any initial buyers in that market?

I just discovered fiverr (new to the IM world) but like the brand idea. It just doesn't seem worth it for a writer, at least at first. Nothing eats away at your soul faster than writing for a penny a word.

I started at 500 words. After one week, I modified it to 450. 2 weeks later, I dropped it to 400.

After receiving some good reviews and getting lots of PM about the gig, I drastically altered it. Now it's at 150 words for $5, 500 words for $15, and 1000 words for $25.

I have a good day job so I don't rely on this income, but it's nice gas money when someone does place an order.

Not true. I'm currently selling 150 words for $5. However, that's just for a buyer to get his/her foot in the door. The Gig Extras is where the money is at.

I've only been on Fiverr for 3 months, but I have no real competition in my target niche. Even if someone tried to come in and compete, it's not easy. Sports writing isn't something one can easily pick up. If anyone dares to compete, they'll be going up against a U.S. college graduate with over 15 years of sports knowledge/sports writing experience.

The only place you could be getting writing that cheap is from India/Philippines. If that's the case, there's no way you're getting perfect grammar writing. There's also no way they're experienced in unique niches. SEO and IM? You know they're just spinning or rewriting PLR content.

I don't think you will be able to make money with $5 an article. If you want to make money
writing articles check out iwriter.com you could end up making around like $10 an article if you pretty good writer.

I just checked out iwriter. Elite writers only receive $15 per 500 word article after getting good ratings on 30 articles. That means they have to slave away for peanuts for awhile. No way I'd ever put myself through that. I make more money during my day job just walking down the street to the local Starbucks.

Yeah, that's what I was hinting at.

There's still money to be made / saved if you opt for a quality seller who insists that you order many gigs to cover the time to write something of quality.

As with most gigs, it's about shopping around.

I tried it when i first started in IM, i didn't know much things so it was cool to work for these 40$, but when you start to know more about affiliate marketing, email marketing etc ... you just realize it's a waste of time ! Better start a content writing service on an IM forum or something bigger than fiverr.

Although many people say Fiverr isn't worth their time, it's brought me in a fair bit of money over the last year - sure, I'm not making my millions (yet!) but I use it as an additional income generator whilst I do other article writing on larger freelance websites.

I think if you believe writing an article for $5 is not worth your time, you just need to establish what your time is worth.

For example, I know I can research and write an article in 15 - 25 mins. If I can write it at a standard I am happy with in 15, then great - I'm making $20 an hour.

I'm happy with that!

So true, why not use it as a 'means to an end' and still carry on work elsewhere? I think trying to make money in just one place and hoping to generate loads is probably putting a little too much faith in one place/"putting all your eggs in one basket" so to speak!

Totally agree with you again.

I enjoy making money online through Fiverr, my various websites, and other online endeavours. I'm about to begin my Kindle book career in a month or two. I love the internet and enjoy putting my eggs in many baskets.

Don't think that articles will make you rich on fiverr. The math doesn't work. Perhaps if you live in a country with less costs but in developed countries, I'd say it would be hard to turn a profit.

There are some writing deals on Fiverr for .003 USD Yes, that's 1/3 of a penny per word. Great deal for buyers.

If you are a hard worker and a good writer living overseas, that may be good money

.003 per word is slave wages. That's $1.50 for 500 words. I make that amount sitting on my arse for a few minutes at my day job.

Don't expect to get quality work at that rate!

There are ancillary benefits to writing articles on Fiverr. I advertise that I will write an article on my blog and link to your site. The people I write for typically promote the article. Sometimes they link to it. It drives traffic to the site. I tag it as promoted. Not really doing it for the money. Just curious how much traffic I can get as a result.

I did article writing and posting to my blog as well. I saw an increase of my blog's PR by 2 degrees. When I stopped the gig, I lost the PR boost after about 30 days.

There are many benefits for doing the writing gigs - creativity is the most important skill in making money with fiverr gigs.
