I am brand spankin' new to IM. I don't even have a website yet. And I've been lurking around here learning a ton from this amazing forum. I'm getting really excited about giving this a try, but I am really struggling with exactly how to begin. I've been reviewing the links in Ebbi's "New? -- Read this!" post, but I'm kinda getting more and more confused. I have a few Newbie questions that I need answered, so here goes:

I'm planning on using the blogging angle, I think, and I'm still trying to come up with a niche that suits me. I want to be 100% genuine and truthful, so I have to believe in the products I promote. Thing is, a lot if not most of the products on ClickBank seem to be kinda crappy. I checked out some and a search brought back all kinds of "ripoff report" type sites with people complaining about how bad the products were. Does a successful IM'er just ignore that and promote it anyway? From what I've read here, that's NOT the way to go. Your reputation is golden if you expect to do this for very long.

So, I'd like to join a reputible CPA service, as it seems they'd have more quality advertisers (do they?) but there's a pretty extensive application process; you have to provide your website info etc...which I don't have.

I think I need to take a step back and learn some real basics first. I know I'll learn very fast, but I have to get the fundamentals down. Can anyone recommend a very basic step-by-step program to get me headed in the right direction? Even if it costs me, but people really recommend it, I'll give it a shot. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read and respond to this!

Thanks George, but I'm a complete newbie and I feel like I need some fundamentals. Can I get some REAL basic basic info there? Maybe some nice simple project plans that will help me earn a few bucks to start?

If you want to blog, you can jump right in and get a free blog for practice and to get your feet wet. You will be able to use it to your benefit at a later time.

I am actually looking for someone to walk through the process live in preparation of putting a class together. I need someone who is new to it all, and will ask me a lot of questions.

If you have skype, I would be happy to work with you personally to get you started. Tomorrow I have some time to spare.

Send me a PM if you are interested.

When I was completely wet behind the ears I started a Google blog. It's free and you can get used to the basics. Also, you can find out what you're good at and what you're not.

I'm not sure what you saw, but a lot of those "ripoff" things are just affiliates trying to get people's attention. They usually haven't even seen the thing they're calaling crap.

As an example of this, type in the name of a well known internet marketer (Frank Kern, Eben Pagan, John Reese etc.) and you'll see lots of Google ads with headlines like "Frank Kern Is A Liar," "Eben Pagan Sucks" and so on.

Check the products out for yourself if you see somethnig you'd like to promote. Not everything on Clickbank is crap. Some genuinely good stuff on there.

You're right Alex, that was a pretty blanket statement, I'm sure not all the products on ClickBank are crap, but it's just the impression I got when looking for products to potentially promote. Those were usually the ones with the highest gravity in a given category.

Jill, I can't PM you, not enough posts yet. I sent you a Skype message that you should get next time you login.

To absolutelee. Did you make any money with your first blog, or was it just to learn how to blog effectively? Can you share it with me if you still have it?
