How to promote my new website? Need help!!

I just created a website myglobefeeds dot com about travel news. I have used an SEO package from freelancers.com about a month ago and see very little traffic. I have also tried posting in flyertalk forums with my signature but it was removed since they do not allow any promotions on their site. What am I doing wrong? What should I do to get more unique visits?

It sounds like you've got an idea of what you should be doing. Just do more of it.

Forums are great for traffic. Just make sure you find more than one forum (and check to make sure they allow promotions in your signature if you want to use that method) and make 40-50 valuable posts before adding your signature. That builds trust and people will click your signature links because they know you at that point.

SEO takes time, and you'll probably need multiple packages. Check out the Warrior for Hire section if you want to let professionals do it for you, but learning to do your own SEO is going to be a huge advantage if you don't have plenty of money to spend.

Try article marketing. Start writing some useful articles and submit them to Ezinearticles and other article directories. If the content is good, they might get picked up by other websites and published with your resource box (containing a link back to your site). This builds traffic and is good for SEO.

Also, don't forget about social networking. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and lots of others are fantastic for promoting websites. You can find tons of information about that in this forum.

Whatever route you go, make sure you keep at it. One SEO package is probably not going to do it, unfortunately. Neither will posting on a single forum. Keep at it and you'll have results.

Thanks a lot for all the tips. Could you elaborate on how to go about it with social networking? I created a Facebook page for my site and got a fiverr gig to like it. What should I do next?

You need to put a plan in place that includes a variety of backlinking and traffic methods. You can't just buy a package somewhere and POOF you are done.

Take time to learn different methods of driving traffic. These can include videos, social media like Facebook and Twitter, syndication, press releases, blog commenting, forums etc. You don't have to do them all of course, but variety is important.

Wordpress is a great resource. You don't have to have something posted everyday, but you need to have consistency and regularly post content. Also if you build up relationships on wordpress with other bloggers that will help you get a lot of traffic.

I would check out bigboards and look for forums related to your travel niche and start making useful posts there. However, be sure NOT to spam the forum with links to your site. Just create useful content and get people talking.

Then have a link to your site in your signature (if the forum allows one)

Produce a free report giving top 50 travel tips. Make sure it is good, but easy to produce.

List it on document sites like scribd and on forums interested in travel. Allow others to give it away too - but not to change it in any way.

Put the link to your site as a clickable link in the pdf.

SEO takes time to yield result especially when you are gunning for a good keyword. Just one month of work is not going to be enough.

However, there are various other ways to promote your product besides SEO such as video marketing, forums, social media, offline, classifieds, solo ads, list building, PPC e.t.c.

Social Media and YouTube. It is very easy to rank for keywords with youtube videos, you'll also be surprised at how much Google+ can help you. (read this blog post). You can also send 5,000 free visitors to you're site by getting a free trial of paid traffic I got a couple of email leads from this so let's hope you're page converts! To find forums and blogs to post in do this:

    "keyword" + "forum"
    or
    "keyword + "blog"

Put these tips tips to good use. I make training videos for $20/month, I'm always adding to the videos plus you get access to my secret internet marketing forum along with that if you're interested. Check it Out here.

Have you used Google tools to research the keywords that people are using to find your business? And then use those keywords on your webcopy as well as your backlinks. And I definitely second using video marketing.

Also, use something like Help A Reporter Out (HARO) to reach out into other areas to drive traffic. And write and release interesting press releases. prweb is a paid press release releaser (for want of a better word :-) ). There are free ones out there.

I actually took a look at your site.

    To be blunt:
    a) it is visually horrible
    b) it has NO content at all apart from RSS feeds from other sites.

Why would anyone want to visit it? What is it about? Why do you think Google or any other search engine will rank it without at least some content of its own?

On the positive side, you've made a start. Now sit down and think about what you actually want your site to be about. Why you think visitors should come. What YOU would want to see if you were a visitor to the site.

When you've decided what your site is about, do some research, write some content, add some pictures (make sure you have the rights to use them or add your OWN photos).

Once you have a real site with a purpose and real content, then start backlinking and maybe taking part in forums.

Thanks for taking a look at the website. I thought it would be helpful for people who travel to have a website that acts as an aggregator for travel news articles. Sites like popurls and alltop simply display rss feeds and are doing pretty well. I want to make it into a social networking website for people who love travel later in the phase. What do you think about that?

I wasn't trying to say that the site shouldn't contain the RSS feeds. Just that it has no other content, which will make it really hard to rank in Google. You can't even tell where the feeds are coming from. It needs annotating and organising better.

After I typed that I took a look at popurls alltop. They tell you where each of the feeds are coming from. Also, I imagine those other sites have age and have taken a lot of hard work and time to rank and gain an audience.

Your site is new and has nothing to distinguish it. Getting traffic will take a lot of time and a lot of work.
