How would you invest $10k in a web business?

Hi guys,
new guy here.
I decided to invest the last bonus I got from my former company into a web business (about $10000).

I know it's not a lot, but I have been reading a few blogs about how to make money online and was totally fascinated by the results you could get if you do things properly even without investing millions..

I don't wanna steal your ideas, just pick your brains and see what would be the best way to use this money wisely.

I was thinking about a review site for dating services (Wordpress driven), where I would write a lot of articles and reviews about existing dating sites and make money through affiliation commissions for the leads I send them.
I would push it on Adwords and work hard on the SEO side of it (even though I got a lot to study on this topic..) to increase the traffic.
What do you think?

Thanks!

I think $10k is a lot if you start spending it all, before you have a good plan with proven results :-) Test your project with less than $1k first and explore further. If things don't work out, you gain experience and still have lots of cash to proceed with another idea. All the best!

If I had 10K to invest in an web-based business it would absolutely be software. Continuity + Software = Winning Formula

Keep that money you are going to need it. It may take months before you make a dime online, and longer before you make enough to live off.

PS. Be prepared for tons of PM's from people trying to sell you the "best money making system".

I'd buy a couple of established, proven, up-and-running businesses with cash flow and work on growing them.

See if you can make money with $100, and if you can... roll out slowly with more and more advertising funds. I wouldn't bet the whole $10k at one time though.

Totally agree, that you may also need a plan, test, research. And $10k will be good to spend in not only 1 business topic

Yes, it's apparent that no one reads past the first post.

In that niche, you would have a lot of serious competition, but where there's competition, there's money. If you're determined enough, you could make it a winner.

Try to forget you have $10k to spend. Start small and concentrate on mastering the basics. If you splash out money before you've mastered the basics, you risk frittering it all away on a website that isn't effective.

One excellent early purchase to make would be the latest edition of Perry Marshall's "Ultimate Guide to Google AdWords", co-authored with Bryan Todd. If you don't know much about AdWords, it will open your eyes to the huge possibilities. You can find it at Amazon.

Perry loves AdWords but he suggests you combine it with SEO, so the book matches your goals nicely.

Some marketers use AdWords as a far-too-costly bidding war. Perry teaches you ways to use it cleverly, so you don't pay too much. It's easy to spend 4 or 5 times what you get back, so you have to learn to be smarter than average in how you use it.

Build a small site, add an autoresponder series (to give you multiple opportunities to make a sale and increase your visitor-to-sales ratio), and test and re-test the way Perry describes until you're happy. Be patient. Expand your business only when what you're doing actually works.

When you've got things sussed, you could spend a chunk of your money paying talented writers to create lively, entertaining reviews for you. Videos would be good, too.

If your writers and content creators could create articles and videos that were so funny people shared them with their friends, that would give you a wonderful flying start. Google would love the links you would get. Paying to have such content created would be an excellent investment.

Another thought: Case studies and interviews with people who have found love on the Net. Matchmaking disasters, too. Done well, with photos and videos. REAL stuff, not invented garbage. Written well, they could be compulsive reading for many who are seeking love.

Keep asking yourself, "What can I do to create attention?" Aim to do stuff that generates free publicity. Google "linkbait". Talk to experienced journalists and magazine writers for ideas. When your site is established some of them could write articles for online and offline magazines.

The more I think about this, the more I believe it could be made to work very well.

In a highly competitive niche, it would be very handy (maybe absolutely essential) to have a major point of difference, a unique selling proposition. Perhaps you could be the expert on one particular sub-niche? Russian brides? Asian brides? Second-time-around folk? Matchmaking for those who just want to play around? Or just for those who are seeking marriage? Christian match-making? Seeking a soulmate? Lots of possibilities. You need to think very seriously about that.

Think, too, about how you are going to build trust. As the wonderful Warrior Paul Myers says, people like buying from people they know, like and trust.

Make a list of the info you need to learn: Building a website, creating a squeeze page, setting up an autoresponder series... But remember, start small.

When it's a winner, please let me know. I occasionally interview successful affiliates.

10 k for adwords , you can target lot of keywords but is hard to expect high ROI with 10 k adwords as well . In website , we unable to focus all in one search engine or one marketing which is not enough for you to earn big money . You might spend smartly to check out more opportunities. If you good in SEO , you might not need adwords to help you get traffic .

Massively test out my sales funnels from start to finish.

This would fast track your testing MASSIVELY!

Buy a ton of solo ads and keep buying the ones that are proven winners and have lots of "BUYERS ON THEM".

Promote my own products to the massive list just created and then set up an affiliate page for them so they can propmote my product for me.

All the MAX-D7 & have a great one!!!

Even if I have $10K, I will not spend more than $2k especially if I am a beginner who is still learning the ins and outs of IM. I am setting-up a big business that needs only under $1,500. Money is not what an online business make successful. It's all about good planning and execution.

I would advise try to use just 1% of $10K, and if you started getting return from this amount then you should go forward.

Join the SFM elite system, invest in advertising using their sales funnel and earn $1000 commission on each sale. 10K will earn you 70k a year plus the recurring income from memberships and still be able to market to your own products to your list. Estimated 100k the first year and it's all about scaling up from there baby.

Making money online is easy if you have a proven strategy that just plain works.

I suggest for you to keep reading and plan before getting into something you don't like make sure that what ever you choose to start with you should have the knowledge for you not to fail. Plan everything carefully. And do not spend all of your money here in IM since you don't have any experience in this business. You have a lot of time to learn. Keep reading past threads.

    1. I would buy a lot of quality content from professional writers.
    2. Buy organic backlinks from forum.
    3. Buy specific backlinks.

Especially specific backlinks are very expensive.
