Whats happening with Search Volume Trends?

I have noticed a recent drop in Search Volume Trends in google keyword tool. Does anyone know if this is a change in their algorithm or it is a drop in searches?

If this is a drop in searches, it does not seem logical, as I cant imagine people doing less searches across all topics.

This has happened for 99% of my searches with Google Keyword Tool.

I think this is the best tool at the moment and these results are vital for our online products.

No, i've noticed the same thing. A lot of the data from February is down several hundred percent. I would say the majority of the data, actually.

I asked this a week or two ago and no one here responded. There are only two possibilities: Google has changed their counting scheme, or the numbers for Feb are completely off. Most of the terms I've looked up are 1/10 their average for February, and I refuse to believe that the world just decided to quit searching. I'm guessing there's a problem with the Feb reporting numbers and they'll get it cleared up soonish.

This is what I got from Google Adwords support, which doesnt explain anything - "Hello Alexei,

Thank you for your email. I understand that recently you have been looking
up the Keyword Tool searching on some keywords across topics but find that
search volume trends have been down over the past few months and want to
know if people have been searching lesser across topics.

Web traffic is influenced by seasonality, current events, and a number of
other factors. The level of search volume on your keywords, therefore, is
constantly fluctuating. It may have been possible that the keywords you
searched on may not have been searched on over the past few months.

In addition, the Keyword Tool's search volume statistics will vary
depending on your selection from the Match Type drop-down menu. If you
select Broad or Phrase, the tool will factor in certain variations of your
keywords that could potentially trigger your ads.

Further, given the economic scenario, we have seen an over all dip in some
industry search terms and the drop in statistics could have been for this
    reason.

If you are worried about a drop in search volumes of some particular
keywords and want us to verify, please mention the keywords in a reply to
this email and I will try and assist you further.
