How Long Have You Been Doing IM?

I'll put it this way, I remember the Rich Jerk forum, and the Travis Sago Bum Marketing method.

I also remember when the Digital Point E-Books section was awesome! You could sell just about anything in there and have a 4 digit day. That's of course once you got past the spam of "I HAS REVIEW COPIES SIR?!?!" posts.

I'd say around 5 years, 2 of them being 'professional' i.e. full time job income.

I've been "in it" since 2009, although there was nothing to write home about before June of last year.

13 years, but not full-time. About once or twice a year I'd try my hand at something(s) for a few months. Walked away in 2008, put my toe in the water a year ago to see if the industry is surviving without me :p , and decided to come back to it in July of this year with the determination to go long and hard, and stick with it until I succeed.

It has been about 5 years seriously and another 3 or 4 just fooling around as anewbie before that.

My big AHAH moment was when I got sick for 6 months and didn't even log into my blog, but had made aver $300 during that span. That kind of made me realize the possibilities of IM!

January 1 2008 I moved from the snail mail "opportunity seeker" business to online marketing.

I was lucky enough to hit the tail-end of the really fun (and easy) stuff like direct linking to landing pages from Adwords.

It's been a wild ride, and I gotta say "I freakin LOVE IT!"

I started IM at the beginning of July, after being a Web Developer since 1999.

IM is not rewarding me well financially yet, but I'm hoping! I've had a number of sites for years, but not moneytized apart from charging people to be in my directories.

I already have PR 2, 3 4 and 5 sites, some are 12 years old so I'm hopeful!

I've been online since 1998 (so you guys better call me uncle!). Prior to that, I was involved in the snail-mail-based direct mail stuff as were many of today's online big names such as Marlon Sanders, Liz Tomey, Ted Nicholas and others. We have all come a lo-o-o-o-ng way since then! Some of the veterans from the early days are still around while others have left the game. I remember the early days of this forum but I joined only in 2007. And yes, I remember The Rich Jerk too.

There are a few of us "uncles" in this thread, I believe. I also came online in 1998, started IM'ing in early '99. Do you happen to remember Cookie Cutter? That was my first hazing in the business. Those were the days when Clickbank was a whole other animal. The Rich Jerk? - been there done that, and many things in between. The strangest thing is I never even heard of WF until one year ago this month.

Yes, I do remember Cookie Cutter. There was a lot of hype about it in those days. Then there was the late Corey Rudl who was one of the big gurus till his tragic demise in a racing car crash.

It is indeed strange that you had never heard of WF!

In retrospect, I recall seeing references to it but never made a connection that it was part of something bigger. For instance, Charlie Page would mention something called WSO's, or I'd get spam that talked about it. I don't remember actually seeing the word 'Warrior' or the phrase 'Warrior Forum', but there were other clues along the way. It was last year when I came back to IM after a long hiatus, searching for ways to make money online, when WF came up in Google results. My real journey then began.

    About 10 years or so.

In fact when I started SEO, Link Building did not exist.....

It was all about on page SEO factors back then, spamming as many keywords on page as you can with white text on a white background under your main content.

    Those were the days ^^

I've been into IM for nearly 5 years. The initial years were not successful, more of a massive learning curve.

I was making sales in 2009 with list building and affiliate marketing but it wasn't until 2011 that I really started making a consistent income.

I also remember the bum marketing days!

I have been full-time now for 7 years, it's been great, frustrating and fun. The best area I have found to date is the mobile space, which is just on fire. Lot's of apps need monetized, Lot's of advertisers needing traffic, so it's real good. I would advise anyone and everyone to look at this space. It's been good steady income for over the last 12 months and steady income I have found to be a key ingredient for staying away from any real job..
